I'm supposed to go look at a 1984 Sea OX on Friday. Does anyone have any experience with these boats?

A guy I used to know in Murrels Inlet SC had one YEARS ago...built like a tank...that was pre-'84, but I guess they continued to make a TUFF hull...if it was in good shape, I'd buy one... ;)...

I have a budy with a 80 something Ox, Nice boat!! But the floor in front of the CC over the gas tank was soft as hell and there is no access panal for it. So he had to cut the deck to replace the floor.

RAP, have'nt heard any late updates from Skools on the OX...last I saw ,there were bushes and weeds growing inside that hull and a giant cinder block bashed thru the floor. Skools will whip that boat into ship shape real quick

My Brother worked for a Sea OX dealer many years ago (Perry's Boat Yard - Monument Beach). He raved about the ride of 25 and 26 cuddy (bluewater). The 23ft cuddy didn't have as sharp a "V" and the ride was much worse than the 25 or 26.
They also made a 18/20/23/25ft center consoles and I heard the 23ft CC had a real issue with floors getting soft . . . Not sure about the other models.
I really liked their 20ft Dual Cosole (200 D) . . . Great Fishing Boat.

A 115 would actually be a great motor on those boats I'm thinking of changing mine to a 25 " transom and using a 140 or leave it 20" and stuill use a 140 i've got a couple of boat.

I went and looked at a 1984 Sea Ox 18 ft dual console, the boat was in beautiful condition but the motor was overheating while on muffs. The guy tried to tell me that all motors overheat on muffs and that its not a problem. Needless to say I didnt buy it. However the price was right $2500 with a galv trailer.

The motor was a 1984 Evinrude 140. I have a 115 of the same year so I'm familar with it, However something about the deal wasnt right. I felt like the seller was trying to hide something. He told me that he replaced the water pump and t-stats himself a few years ago and that the reason it is overheating is probably because it needs to be done again. I asked myself, If this guy knows how to do a pump and t-stats then why wouldnt he do it prior to selling a motor that he knows is going to overheat. I guess some buyers just dont ask questions or know any better.

I think I'm gonna be patient and wait for a nice V20 to come along, I thought the Sea Ox was small for an 18 compared to my 17ft Manatee. Nothing matches the cockpit room of a V20 so I guess my minds made up.

Skools, I saw your Manatee project turned out real nice. My dad has a 1989 18ft Manatee bowrider and I have a 1984 17ft bowrider. They are a really well built boat. I'm generally happy with it other than the fact that I have 2 footitis and want something bigger. I don't see a whole lot of Manatees up here in the Mid Atlantic but I understand they are plentiful down there in Fl, where they were manufactured.
