Darn pin that goes down through the hinges broke on my V21 windshield. I'll try to get a pic ASAP, but in the meantime, any ideas? Doesn't look like something I can run down to Lowe's and pick up. Its not totally broke, but makes it difficult to open and close. When you open it it want to come off completely!

I have two 6' pieces of Stainless hinge's that would work but long ways to drive to replace it. Um look at boatfix.com for stainless hinges that's who i bought these from and i have replaced all the boats i've restored so far with this stuff works great just drill out the rivets on the center and the side then pop rivet the new hinge in place holes may not line up not a problem actually better if they don't so you can just drill new holes and rivet it back in place. let me know if you need something BR

I was hoping to be able to repair the current hinge, but sounds like I'm gonna need a new hinge all together.

Thanks for your input and willingness to help a brotha out. I'll check out boatfix.com.

BR, I'd be lookin' around for a new stainless rod to go thru your existing hinge...you can buy stainless ''continuous'' hinge, but chances of the holes linin' up aren't good...there's a link to the windshield mfgr Water Bonnet in the links section...see if they can help...Home Lowes Depot MIGHT have somethin' you can use temporarily, but doubt stainless...

how about pullin' one off one of your other boats?...still gottem?...

RAP,

Thanks - now that might be an idea. I might be able to steal the one off my '72 - why didn't I think of that??

We shall see.

Thanks man,

Reason I thought of it and you didn't is cause I'm a CHEAP SOB...hope it works for ya, Man... ;)...just pull the pin out or did the "hinge" actually break?...

most all hardware stores sell alumin rod from 1/8 and up. Just go get a leanth and shove it in there you will be fine!
I am sure HomeChepo has it also in there hardware dept. And I thought of this cause it is what a friend used in his boat 4 years ago and still going fine.
and I am a chep bastard!! ;D
