View Full Version : V20 Seating

Anyone remember seeing a V20 that had four swiveling helm type chairs. Two in normal helm/pass spots and two right behind them. I remember someone commenting how it was the first time he'd seen it but that it would be a good idea. I need better (additional) seating in mine and thought it would work well, if just two guys spin the chairs around and fish, if just cruising would be nice too. I'm wondering about under floor supports and how hard it would be to mount them in that location ???

I saw that boat also but I decided to go with a folding double seat from west marine or i think Mac has a cooler seat mnt. in the back. if your set on the 4 chairs i would pull the cover off the fuel tank and reach under to mount backing brace for the 2 seats. If your floor is solid than you should have no prob. I like the flex of facing the dbl. seat either way or take it out and having all that room. Also the more you drill into your floor the better chance of water to get in and than replace it...

Willy,
I remember seeing that boat, I believe it was for sale. How about a couple of large coolers like I'm running?

I did not see that boat, But if you need to have that many seats then thats the way to go.

Once again my computer is still down so there are no pic;'s at this time. >:(
But I like to fish, anmd drive with no seat most of the time. But there are those times that I do want to sit.
But I hate the seat in the way all the time.

What I did and belive this would be good for you is, mounted a flush mount in the floor, added a removeable seat post and my helm seat.
When I want the seat out the way it takes me all of 10 seconds to pull the seat and post out the way and not triping over anything!!

You could add the 2 floor mounts and put in or take out the seats at will. That will give you alot of options

Willy, if it were me(and it ain't, it's you), I'd do the two front seats as permanent pedistal mounts, then the two in back as removeable pedistals...that way you got the flexibility of havin' 2 or 4 or even 3 on a trip...JMHO ;) ;D...

Provided no soft spots in your deck, you should be able to mount anywhere you like... :)...no screws!!...thru-bolts and toggles in SS ;)...

If it were me, I'd opt for 2 seats like the helm seat on the newer V20's. One could be a livewell and the other for storage. RAP has this kind of setup I think, no?

I like the idea of the pedestal seats flexablity and have had them before in my 17.5 aluminum Mirrorcraft. I dont like the base though, seems I catch my foot on them at the least oppurtune time. You have so much room in my cockpit area it gives you a lot of flex. I do like the seating in the pic of the newer v21 above. I'd like to find that helm arrangment for both sides and sell my Todd seats. Anyone know where to p/u that swivel helm seat on a base w/storage x 2 for a decent price?
And if you guys that have them can tell me how is the height for visibilty? I'm 6' will those seats let me see over under power, they look low

Here is the seat in the boat, It the seat on the right:

Here you can see just the post with the seat removed:

Here is the best I have with out the seat, it only sticks up about 1/8, to 3/16 and never causes a problem for me.

You can add as many as these were ever you want to move the seats all over the boat or you can remove them all toghter.
Works for me.

Thanks MJ, do the narrow post pedestals work as strong as the wide posts, and did you put some type of backing plate under the floor, if so how did you get access to do it.
Apparently no one on the site the past few days has the v21 type storage base seating. I would like to find those used or from some boat surplus place. Has pad in back so you can seat four and gives you storage and or live well.

Willy, no need for backing plates...SS Toggle bolts...cost$$, but BEST to use...West has 'em...you might find for less elsewhere...these are not the ''butterfly'' toggle, but a SOLID toggle that goes under the deck (you'd never get backing under there w/out pullin' up the floor)... ;) ;D...ran the small dia. pedistals in my '67 T-Bird for YEARS w/no problems...

Hmmmm toggle bolts - wish I had known about those for my T-Bird! If you could have only seen my brother-in-laws face when that whole thing broke loose from the floor and he went flying back! LMAO! Then he had to sit on the cooler the rest of the trip! I told him not to put too much weight on it, but there he was, all relaxed when we hit a nice wave and BAM! ;D

Funny as h-ll, BR...back in hi-school, a buddy put junk-yard bucket seats in his '57 Chevy w/out boltin' 'em down...picked up date w/her dress on...later DUMPED the clutch puttin' a ''wannabe'' in his place...said the girl shot 3 beavers flippin' into the back seat...

Now back to dem toggle-bolts... ::)...MJ'll be on my a$$ for hijackin'... :-*...

Thanks all, don't none of you guys got them v21 style seats with storage. Or do you know a place to find something like em?

Ive got one of those storge seats on the port side. But i tell you what this double folding seat is the best, and it folds up and put it up front if in the way. The only reason its on the boat is if i need the seating room and you can move it where its needed. Face it forward or back for fishing. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Zaff/Img_0147.jpg

The only problem with the folding seat is it will slide if nobody is sitting in it. its heavy duty, herehttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Zaff/IMG_0139_2.jpg are some pic[IMG]http://i2.photobucket.com/albumss

another pic. I had a single ped. seat in the middle of the floor space, you can see the place where it was mounted it seemed to be in the way. The folding seat works better for my needs and with my trim tabs I can move it with people in it anywhere and just level the boat.http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Zaff/Img_0159.jpg

Hey Zebra thanks for the shots, I thought about one of those or two singles if I needed more super model seating. But I like the storage type seating and wanted one on each side. Is the one you got stock or did you put it in yourself. I wanted to use the port side one for a livewell arrangment because I dont like the ones in the floor. By the way nice rig Zebra, wheres the shots taken at looks nice

Good call Phes, thats the one, Old School has no I/O, just full transom with bracket so I have plenty of room for that kind of arrangment. But if I put in the base unit V21 type seats I don't have to bend to my knees to get bait. Kind of torn on this one. Have to think about it. Thanks
