Looks like I'll be usin' your method to take 'er off the trailer soon...found a rusted SPLIT along top of rear axle and it ain't gonna get better by itself...can't decide to get new axles or fill/drain axles w/oil(to negate internal rust) and weld angle end to end across top where split (split doesn't go end to end, but may as well add angle that way)...whatever I do to the one that's split, I'll do to the other as it's got a rust stain along the top in the same area...Any thoughts?... ;D...

I would make an error on the side of safety - axle replacement

Replace axle!! And you should not have to take boat off trailer to replace it??
I did mine on the old trailer and did not remoave the boat?

i had an axle crack on a single axle trailer and it was bowing the wrong direction due to weight so i jacked up the trailer by the axle in the center to bow the axle back and welded a piece of angle across the top as you said and it fixed both it held the axle straight once weight was back and it fixed the crack. it has been fine fior the last 3 yrs so far no issues at all it's tons stronger now and it wears tire a ton less.

Thanks, Skools...just what I had in mind...so it's back to ''off the trailer'', but no have to MESS w/brakes...

And MJ...if I didn't have to tow any further than you do, I wouldn't have 'em either... ;) ;D...70 mph for an hour...lotta ''crazies'' out there just waitin' to do somethin' STOOPID right in front of you :o ::)...

hey do you have a tree you can back the boat up to ?if so tie a rope thru the transom eye on one side then around the tree to the other transom eye. now let out enough wench cable to keep the boat from falling off the trailer. then just drive the truck forward until the boat is about 4 ft off the trailer then block the transom. then drive about 8 to 10 ft more then put a jack under the keel and jack the boat up off the trailer and now drive out from under the boat then lower the bow down on blocks and your done.

if no tree find a second car to tie it too. tie it to anything it can't pull over. even used a light pole lol

Thanks, Skools...it's parked backed up to wall of stud-wall work-shop...will attach to that to ''stop'' boat...you sure make it sound easy...

it is easy may want to wet the trailer bunks or rollers so it slides easier

I took my 21' Continental off a trailer the same way, it was easy.

You a DAWG, MJ...25 miles is hardly worth hookin' up the saftey chains, much less the pain of brakes... ;) ;D...

If I just wanted to do recreational fishing I have a ramp 1 mile away!! That has Bass Blues some Fluke and Scup.
But I prefer fishing the Vineyard were there a ton of fish and mutable kinds of fish! ;D
