You could make a fixed mount jackplate somehow. Problem is, you can buy one for around $75 brand new and I almost guarantee anything you make won't be as strong, will be heavier and probably take a couple or three hours (if you're good) or days (if you're me) worth of work not to mention cost of materials.

Same goes for the adjustable although you are probably looking at a used one for around the $100 mark whereas new they are a bit more than that for a good one. They make hydraulic, which will set you back but they are nice for skinny water for sure!
