Hey Guys,
Is there some kind of unspoken rule against renaming a boat? When a boat changes owners is the new owner supposed to keep that name? Just curious...

It's not that it can't be done, but there is a correct procedure to be followed. *Check this:

Did you know that three proposed White Star ships i know the Titanic and Olympic were built. But they had plans on three ships originally. The third was Gigantic. After the Titanic sank they rename the Gigantic to the Brittanic. All 3 sank. The First built was Olympic and on it's return trip to Belfast it was struck in the Harbor and sank. Since the Olympic was already booked for trips and the Titanic wasn't but it was completed they renamed the original Titanic to Olympic and was used twice till she sank as well off NY. The once sank Olympic was repaired and named Titanic so as we all know she sank as well. So as stated above the third sister ship named Gigantic. After the Titanic sank they rename the Gigantic to the Brittanic. It sank as well. So there's a story a 3 sister ships renamed and all sank some twice under 2 different names. Yeah all the names come fom greek mytholigy. The Olympians the Titans and the Giants it is safe to assume that was the original name but it can't be proven. Am sure it had it's name changed before Titanic went down but to my knowledge the name was changed due to the fact it was no longer the biggest ship in the world at her launch.

Hey Bygracealone,
As we start up the boating season perhaps a man in your line of work would be able to perform a "Blessing of the WellcraftV20.com fleet"?

Hey Rick, I definitely won't push my faith on any of our fellow members, but when asked, I'm happy to pray and discuss my faith.
I can and certainly will pray for the Lord's blessing to be upon us this season. But as a Protestant and Reformed Presbyterian minister, that's as far as I believe I'm capable of going. There are some other denominations and "high church" types where one can ask for somebody to come down and "perform a blessing" on whatever one wants (even animals... ??? no joke). They'll even dress up in a cool gown and bring some special water :P I'm much more comfortable and willing to ask the Lord's blessing on us rather than pretend I have any inherent power in myself or position to perform such blessings.
Anyway, here is my humble prayer for us: May the Lord's blessing be upon us all during this fishing season. May He grant us safety and many good times on and off our boats and may we catch our limits. May He also grant us thankful hearts for the beauty and glory of His creation and may we see His grace and mercy through it all. Asking these things in the precious and glorious name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Hey Bygracealone, I'm sorry if I'm being foward, but I belong to a boat club, which gets together w/ a few other clubs, & every year we have a blessing of the fleet. We have a Minister, a Priest, & a Rabbi, (No this is not the start of a bad joke), & each will ask for God's blessing for our fleet. Afterwards we have a cook out at one or the others club. Maybe meeting other boaters is our blessing, on the water we never can have enough friends. Sorry if I was out of line with this, or jumped in where I don't belong. Joe

I will be renaming my V-20 before the season starts. I'm going to follow the ceremony and have some fun with it. Maybe I will have a little renaming party and take everybody out for a ride. My boat is currently named the "Fritz-Marie", I will be renaming it "Half Hers II" since my fiance pays for half of the boat and the bills associated, now thats a good woman.

Bygracealone thanks for your prayer. You are probably right in that you have no special powers but you may be able to explain what happened to me.
Up until three summers ago I had never been stopped by the Coast Guard or DNR or any other of the authorities. On a Saturday afternoon I was walking back to the shed past my neighbor sitting on his deck. He asked if I was going fishing. I said I had no one to go with me. Ron volunteered to go as long as I would take his friend who was sitting with him. His friend happened to be his pastor of his church. As we headed to the boat ramp we stopped to let the pastor purchase his fishing license. Once on the water after about one hour fishing a large vessel was heading straight at us. Then we saw the blue lights flashing, Ontario Provincial Police. Skipper stop you vessel. Skipper put your vessel in neutral. After passing all the inspections they left. Why was it that the first and only time with a man of the cloth on board was I stopped. The next Sunday the pastor used our fishing outing in his sermon.
Thanks again for your prayer! Bill Mc ;D

Joe, you're not being too forward at all buddy. I'm actually quite surprised at how open many of you are with regard to the faith. Indeed, you are correct in seeing the good times we have with one another on and off the water as part of God's blessing upon us. It is a wonderful thing to get to know one another and enjoy each other's company.
When it comes to religion, I'm not one for mixing faiths, as I'm persuaded that there is but one Way, Truth, and Life in Christ alone. BUT, I'm all for having a good time with one another.

Mac, man!, you really know how to tell a story. As I was reading, you built up the story such that you had me anticipating some kind of supernatural experience you might have had as a result of taking the pastor with you 8) I thought you were going to say you caught your greatest catch or that you were saved from some serious situation or something like that. Funny story though ;)
