Yes one of mine had a bunch of $hit I took a long stick, taped a scraper on the end and cut the sock right off and have never had anything on there again!!
Why they ever welded them in there is beyond me???
clean well, and rinse even better!! For fast install tilt tank and put old towel in the tank to absorb the water.
Or set in the sun for a day or so.
If you don't have a water seporator & Filter unit, this is the time to get one.
Just beware that when you put all back toghter, and tryto pump the ball to get gas to the motor, you could be pumping a long long time!!
You might even think you are niot getting gas at all?? But t will come!!
What I did was put a drill pump on the line and drawed the gas to the filter then hooked the ball up to go to the motor.

MJ, I'm glad you didn't blow yer arse up w/ that drill-pumpin' gas :o ...
Flatliner, the water-separator, MJ's talkin' about will also be a 'SPLITTER'...on mine, I put a fuel line from each tank to the separator w/ a lever type inline shut-off before the separator...then one line from the separator TO the motor, which will have your ball-pump in it(be sure to follow the arrow on the ball-pump)... ;)...

This is the "TYPE" filter/seperator we're referring to...Racor is considered best, but there are others

you'll have to look a little further to tell which model is right for your boat...West, boater's world...they all got 'em...considered essential...

This is the kind I have. The one reel showed is a bit better as far as draining the water. I have all 3 tanks connected to mine and it will come with plugs for the holes you don't use.

Thanks,
I have a small in line fuel filter that keeps getting clogged with some type of sediment, then the engine cuts out.
It almost looks like rust.
I wonder if one of these filters would work.
I want to avoid pulling the tank to give it a good cleaning.

don't go the easy way!! You need to get the $hit out of the tank!!
If not the only thing you going to do is clog the big filter or even worse the sock in the tank, then you will have to do it any way!!

I think MJ's right...BUT you might wanna TRY addin' one of these filter/seperators first...the sediment should settle on the bottom of the cannister, then you can dump it...IF it does and IF you make it a regular routine, you MIGHT get by w/ out pullin' your tank...since you really need to add one of these anyway, it would be worth a try...you'll know right away if it's workin' as there'll be little or no sediment in the filter you mentioned above... ;)...keep us posted on results... :D...
