View Full Version : Are the gas prices going stop your fishing??

On the radio I was listing today, they said there should be no problem with gas hitting $3.00 this summer!

What if anything is this going to do to your fishing??

I think as long as I am in to the fish making a buck I will be fine.
But if I am not selling, I am going to have it on the4 trailer more them not *:-/

It won't affect me other than cost me more money. The way I look at is, I only really use the boat for 4 months out of the year. So in those precious 4 months of mostly weekend boating I intend to use the boat how ever I want without fuel usage affecting my decisions. The boat spends 8 months a year not burning any gas while sitting on the trailer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with fuel prices but I can't see anything keeping me from boating.

I don't think it will. There are several hot spots within 4 miles of the ramp. If I didn't fish a round of golf would cost $35 or more. What ever you play you'll have to pay. I wish I had shares of Exxon they are going to have record profits again. Bill Mc ;D

yes it is i cant go out as much as i would like to but the gas prices are going to come down as soon as the bushes leave office
when clinton was the pres we were paying 89 cents a gallon so what do you think happened ::)

macojoe
04-06-2006, 11:09 PM
I would love to see it come down!!

But I havwe to diagree with you on this one!

They have been wanting us to pay for years!! And they have been preping us since last summer for the $3 mark!!

I will bet that when we hit the $3 mark it will level off and and stay there or around there for a long while.

Exxon/Mobile made 10 BILLION in PROFITS the last 3 months of 2005...something is seriously wrong here. Someone needs to give Bush A BJ so he will get impeached:)

I've got one hobby that's fishing so I have to go no matter what my tow vehicle burns 3 times more than the boat on a trip :(

IT may slow me down a little, may mean a few more trips in the small boat, but I'm still goin.

I think that your right Joe , $3 is going to be here for a while . As for the oil co's they are only going to let it go so high as we will convert to something else . Bush is anything but my hero , but what can he do short of grabbing the oil in Iraq . ( fine with me ) I'm just going to have to pay the price and slow down. It sucks ! but I'm not sitting on the dock......

macojoe
04-07-2006, 11:18 AM
Yea Bush has sent the price up and only he his buddys and the oil co benfit!

No matter who the prez is, the price is set forever now!! They are not going to lower it thats for sure!

I might make CB bring the tin boat here for us to use?? It is going to be much cheaper!

I just better get into some fish this year to sell thats all I got to say!

NO! *I'll be out there no matter what.

You all can't seriously blame Bush for the price of gas! * ::) *That makes about as much sense as blaming him for the high number of hurricanes last year, IMO.

It's all economics, supply and demand. *Lower our dependence on oil and the price will drop.

Gas prices will not affect my fishing or pleasure riding.

What is confusing and frustrating is watching the gas prices at the pumps go up .10 every Friday for no apparent reason.

I wish that Pres. Bush or my case in NC Gov. Easley would take a little bit of the gas tax that we pay when our boats are filled and do some dredging of the waterways with it . It seems like all of our waterways and inlets are filling in .

Skools Out
04-07-2006, 03:42 PM
He11 Yeah, NC Gov. Easley went up on the gas tax in stead of going down as requested by the whole state made us the 2nd highest gas tax in the US. He's the one WE NC people should raise he11 at not Bush. And why is it we have to pay highway gas tax at the pumps at a Marina for our boats??? they sure don't do any dredging of the waterways with it . It seems like all of our waterways and inlets are filling in.

Skools,
Save your reciepts when you fill up your boat, you can write off the gas tax (not the cost of gas by itself) on your taxes for the very reason you mentioned. My dad's been doing it for years.

Blame Bush

1. What about the SUV tax write off for small businesses - part of the Bush's economic stimulis package. What small business didn't pass on the Free SUV tax write off?

2. Military Demand pumps up fuel prices everyday.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2005/08/31/cnoil31.xml&menuId=242&sSheet=/money/2005/08/31/ixcity.html

3. Tiny investment in alternative fuels. 150 million in ethanol research for this year.

No one is blaming him for the hurricanes, but he isn't doing anything to reduce our dependence on oil.

Tin - "blow jobs for bush" has a nice ring to it.

Let's see...man grows up in politicly powerful, oil-rich family. dad was CIA director and pres. of US w/world-wide global oil connections and benefactors, including American oil company executives, gets elected pres. of US, with backing of big oil, goes to war, destabilizing entire major oil-producing region, photographed walking hand-in-hand (really) w/Sheik Abdullah and he has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that you and I are payin' nearly 3 times more at the pump than B4 he was elected...

Do I believe he did it all himself and he alone is to blame?...of course not; all the interests he represents and who put him in office did, but w/out a CIC in place to go to war, it couldn't have happened...

I'm w/you, Tin...CA tossed their gov B4 end of his term...would be bigger task on pres level...problem is, that'd leave us w/ Cheney as pres, so no real gain...w/ things as they are now, the next three years are gonna be tough...

I think Clinton's actions were reprehensible (he got off too light), but were confined in their scope of impact...much wider-spread and longer-lasting damage due to this admin's actions...bull in a global china shop...

Round trip to the Island and back 12 miles @ 2 miles per gallon = 6 gallons @ $3.50 (including oil) = $21.00

Staying home and wife and daughter going to the mall instead $100.00

I figure I am still ahead.

Have you noticed the price of a quart of oil is still about what it was 2 or 3 years ago ?

gas prices will only make me fish more and not cruise, I used to like going for rides and going places but that aint gonna happen. But I when I go fishing i don't have to go far from the ramp so i really dont burn all that much fuel and the fuel i burn is worth the cost. But thats why i never go by myself, i bring other people so we can all split the costs and bait, food, ice, gas. But i am lucky enough to have someone that will go with me any time i go out and i tell them, "hey, I bought the boat and we can go out, it's just YOU have to put the gas in it!" ;) and if you wanna take a ride somewhere...I'll take you, but the fuel is on you!

Guys, we all get down on gas prices being up, but lets keep it in perspective. If you burn a 100 gallons in the boat per season and the price is curently about .50 more than last year your looking at an extra $50 for the year. No biggie. I may not go as far and maybe 2x per week instead of 3x, but I'm still gonna have my fun. You do realize that as V-20 sales go up, domestic disurbance calls are on the rise. ;D ask Hammer and Willy, the local pd.
