you can only catch one species of fish for the rest of your fishing life... what fish is it? why?

most likely dolphin for me... fights like hell and tastes like heaven.

Dam fish, now that's a question!

Hard as heck to decide. I think its between mahi and flounder, but I'm torn. Then again, I've never caught groupers and snappers either, so I don't know what I'm missing there.

Hopefully none of us will ever have to make this decision. Its like trying to decide between food and air - you just can't live without both!

There are so many species that I haven't even had a chance to have a shot at yet. I have fished other parts of the country as well as Costa Rica for Peacock Bass. But, given where I live, I guess I'd go with Fluke or BFT. 8)

CONCHES, I pull in my line and it is bobing and weaving
like a real fish and then it is just a conch.

but then again I could always make fritters.

Fluke? Haven't any of you boys ever landed a Marlin? White or Blue, there is nothing like watching her break water 3 or 4 times every minute till you get her to the boat. ;D

c'mon willy... you know as well as i that **** rock hops (thats what we nyer's call shinnecock jetty rockhoppers) are a protected species.
plus you cant even eat the dam things.

willy
06-22-2006, 12:35 PM
Oh I protect them, and I eat them as often as possible, that may seem a contradiction in terms but it's my story and I'm sticking to it 8)

And to be more to the point which I have been accused of missing, for my favorites I have to separate two categories. For fresh water which is what I have done most of my life I would have to say a big wild hook jaw rainbow on a fast water run in the river with a 8.5 ft Sage 5 weight. Fast hard pulling smart multiple jumping son of a gun, and taste's fantastic. And you better be able to run along a rock strewn river with waders on or you aint getting him.
In the salt I have'nt got to try out too many species yet, love fluke for the simple fishing fun and the eating. Love the stipers for the fight which why I don't fish them often with wire line trolling rigs and umbrellas etc. Enjoy the fight on lighter tackle and eels or Spro type jigs.
But it would be a sad world if that was all there was. I'm waiting for the oppurtunity to go for shark, Big Fight and good eating and a little dangerous to boot, love it.
Favorite eating and best fight for me so far was yellow fin tuna.
If I could afford the boat needed and the fuel and time that would be the species I would target the most.

I changed my mind,
I like the Sweedish Redfish,
they are easy to catch and good to eat.
