I am looking at a 1997 V21 with a Yamaha 150 on it , no trailer, VHF, FF for 15,995. Does this seem like a good price? The boat has been dry stored for the last couple of years. I checked NADA and the last year they have is 1996 and the Avg retail is around 11K.
What do you think of the V series, I have heard only good things about it? Is a 150 hp enough for that boat, can you estimate the cruise speed and WOT for it? Does anybody know the dry wieght of boat and engine? What should I look out for on the boat, if I like it I will get a compression check on it.
I currently have a 2000 Wellcraft 180 Sportsman with a Johnson 115 on it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

While not a steal , I don't think the price is way off base . Unless the boat is extra clean I think that I would start around $13k . The 150 hp should push the boat WOT 42-44 mph . I have a 150 yamaha on my V20 center console and I find that it is all the power that I need. Although I sure would not mind having a 200. That boat should weigh in around 2700 lbs. dry . Good luck .

There's a 96 in the for sale section for $8K and a 95 in NY for $9,300. $8k vs $16K buys alot of trailer.

What it comes down to is what year and condition of the motor. If you have a old boat with a new 4 stroke yamaha on it that boat is going to be worth at least what the engine cost plus a few grand for the hull or more depending on its condition whether it has been restored etc.
I'll tell you I would spend 14 g's for a nicely kept V21 with good recent power on it as opposed to a lot of newer boats I see go for the high twenties low thirties. JMHO

I paid $10k for my '95 with a 150 johnson. Trailer, cover, comming(sp?) pads + full canvas enclosure. The trailer was crap. I got a deal on an aluminum trailer. So far I have spent an additional $1,800. I'm now repainting and re-powering. The hull is great. If it is a 150 4-stroke I would say it's a good deal.
