Ok, it's 3:30 am and cant sleep. Where is everyone ??
So who's going out today. Its suposed to be a nice sunny day. My V-20 has been only in the water for about 20 minutes so far before the steering problem. She all fixed and ready. Hit the Wallmart today for a cheap air horn and fire exsting. Will be taking her out on a long run today to really feel her out and see how she does in the Delaware Bay and in the ocean, so my diving can begin. Was suposed to be on a dive boat at 6am this morning but bailed out because I want to spend to with my "V". I think I'm in love : ) If all goes well, I'll be posting alot of pictures of how my first true day went. Hope to see or hear someone on the vhs.
Who is again, Parrish in Bowers Beach ?, I'll be looking for brother. ;D . I'll be in the area of Beach Plum Island where that old shipwreck is grounded along the beach, then ride on out to the Breakwater wall and ice shears.
Hopefully I'll be posting some great news and pictures.
See ya soon.

I would have gone out today, but, just like yesterday Long Island, N.Y. is getting socked w/ rain. Actually, the rain let up this AM so it has just been cool and overcast. Of course right now , the sun is trying to break thru as 98% of the weekend is over......Monday is supposed to be nice.....typical

Hey Perf, fishing guys were catching alot of flounder here in Lewes today.
Ok, well, the day didnt start off to well. The motor started right up, but when I went to take her out, she wouldnt go over 2000 rpms ??? they stall out. This happened three damm times. Almost ready to call sea tow to come and get me. :'( :'( :'(
Limped back to the dock when I finally got her running. Wife showed and I said what the hell, I could use sopmeone to talk to while being stranded out at sea ;D so I took a chance and took her back out. This time she ran perfect ????, had her up over 35 mph. Bay was abit choppy, and still need to learn how and when to trim the motor. Ran her up and daown the Delaware Bay and again she was running perfect.
Any ideas ?? clogged fuel line, something floating around in the tank, I still have the same fuel filter that came with th eboat when I bought it, but it looks brand new. Someboday mentioned earlier about plugs, she ran perfect on the old plugs, then had new ones installed thaen I break down. So I have no idea whats going on. Monday I'm gonna grab a new filter and hopefully she will run as good as she did the 4th time.
Enjoy the pics.

Looks like a great day.
We took our V20 (with new 2004 Yamaha 200EFI) out on Lake Michigan with the family for first time this year. We ran around on the lake in a 1-3 foot chop before retiring to the Galien River for some smooth water cruising. Love the new outboard.
Perch fishing next weekend!

Just my $.02. *Relocate your vhf away from your compass. *The magnet in the speaker will give you a false reading. *Lift the radio out of the bracket and move it around and see if your compass stays in one place. *I really like some of the owners flush mounted electronics installs. *Unfortunately there's not alot of space at the helm to mount stuff. *Sounds like you had a successful trip. If you think it's a fuel problem, get a 6 gallon portable tank and run your boat on that fuel as a test. If your oil pump is disconnected, don't forget to premix the gas/oil. *

We were able to use our boat 6 days in the last two weeks. We did alot of fishing (redfish and trout) and scouting for scallops. The season starts July 1st.

Oh yeah, another problem I had was tons of water in the baitwell and in the cuddy. They both have drains in the bottom and again should flow back to the bilge and pump out. But it doesnt. Used a portable bilge in th ebaitwell to get the water out, once the boat started moving, water moved around and the bait well filled up again. Had a good six inches of water in her. So where does all this damm water sit at ??. Still getting water in the cuddy bad when it rains. Hate to install a bilge in the live well and in the cuddy. Looked for a clog over the winter time and still have no luck with it.

Sounds like a good trip overall, but a few ''bugs'' showin' up...I like Seacrets idea of runnin' from a fresh tank to see if fuel probs...other probs don't usually clear themselves up like that...
water in the cuddy well and bait well...w/ plugs out it SHOULD drain to bilge as you say...if it were mine, I'd find a long rod of some kind and feed it thru the transom drain hole...ease it along the bottom of the hull as far as it'll go, it should go all the way to cuddy...maybe you'll clear an obstruction, but as much water as you're describin', you need to get rid of the prob...have a hose ready to flush it out if you do clear anything... ;) ...good luck w/ it...let us know :D ...

would've, could've, SHOULD'VE! ;D C'mon Phes...overcast and light winds make for great conditions. I went out Sunday afternoon, ran a whopping few hundred yards from the ramp and caught the middle of the flood tide. Had one frozen squid in the freezer at home and was able to bucktail a couple keepers and 1 short. Kept one of the keepers for the table. Probably didn't even burn 2 gallons of gas!!!
Stopped at a farm stand on the way home, picked up some local asparagus and peas. Got home by 6pm, put up the Brown Basmati rice on the stove (takes 45 mins), called a lady friend to come over for dinner, cleaned the boat, filleted the fish, which was still alive, don't get any fresher than that! For perfect cooked fish everytime, I pre-heat the oven to 375 with either a cast iron skillet, coated lightly with olive oil, in the oven while preheating, or I have these 2 smaller casserole dishes that hold 1 fillet perfectly, cook for 12 minutes and comes out perfect everytime! Sauteed an onion to mix with peas, then added both to the brown rice. Sauteed the asparagus. Meal came out AWESOME!
Lady friend offered to do the dishes while I sat on the couch with a full belly! After the dishes were done, got me some desert (if you know what I mean ;) ), 5 minutes later desert was done! :o and she was like ::) Half hour later she was on her way home, I was on the couch on my laptop surfin the forum....Ah, life is GRAND!
Now it's Monday morning, back to the grind:(.....c'mon Friday!:)

Hammer, it sounds like what I had last year: a clogged drain line under the fuel tank.
When you have all that water foreward, it should drain through the line under the fuel tank into the stern where your bilge pump can get rid of it, especially under way. But if that line is clogged like mine was, when you get going you'll see it coming up into the baitwell as you described. If you open up your access in the stern, you should be able to see the end of the tube that the water is supposed to drain through. Try a stiff piece of wire, or perhaps a coat hanger, pushing it up into the tube to see if you can unclog it. That may be a quick fix. In my case, there are some old cruddy pieces of floatation that kept clogging it up. We cut a hole into the bottom of the baitwell and installed an access plate. That way you can open it up and have access to the tube from both ends. Hope this helps.

Tin, Congrads on your desert. Fish all around for ya ;D
PIPE: Yeah man, I thought about doing the same thing, cutting out a section of the bait well. I'm just not sure how it all connects. Like is there a 90 0/0 elbow that attaches to the baitwell, is it attached anyway to th eunderside of teh baitwell. It seems like my baitwell is boxed in on all four sides with support it feels like. So did you put in you access right on th ebottom of the bait well. Any help would be great.
Thanks Man. ;)

Hammer, my baitwell just drains into the bilge. We just put the plate right in the bottom center of the well.

From what Pipe's sayin', if you can access the back of the tube, it might be that a garden-hose will flush it out (hold it tight against the tube for pressure) or an air-hose might be just the blow-job you're lookin' for :o ...did I say that??... ;D ;D...

FINALLY got her out yesterday eve, maiden voyage for the 06' season. First time in probably 25 yrs. I didn't get out in April which is when our flounder season heats up. Anyway it was the first ride since the carb rebuild [that was done about a month and a half ago] and it ran like great. Nice idle, no stalls, very quick on the key, and the little "misfire" I was experiencing is gone. Shop cost to have it done, 125.00 per carb [X 6] ,my cost about 75.00. It pays to have a factory OMC manual, and a brother w/ a lot more mechanical know-how than myself. Bought a couple of poles, threw around a few buck tails, shads and small swimming plugs because we saw a lot of bait [sand eels] and the birds were working pretty steady, but, the birds had the bay all to themselves, no fish around. Next trip will be a "fishing trip"

Hammer, you might run across a few parts of my soul I've left there over the years...that place holds some pretty special memories of a girl I nearly married many years ago...she died several years back and when she comes to mind, I always think of Pawleys and the times we had there...
...anyway, I know you and Lisa gonna have a big time there...if you don't, you just didn't try hard enough...wish you were gonna have the "V" ;D 8) ...

Hey MS, My 79 had a pvc pipe running from bow to stern but it didn't drain the cuddy which had it's own drain hole. What I had to do to get the cuddy to drain was to put a snake on a drill and start reaming from the bilge. It felt like I was reaming right thru the foam under the gas tank. It took a while but when I got it thru to the cuddy drain hole(which I had to widen) it opened a passage. The feeling was similar to popping a zit.

Being on vacation, hopefully I'll get it fixed. When I was up on plain and the baitwell filled, seen alot of brown water and rotted leaves come up. Nothing is ever simple !
