On trip to S'set, lost total of 3 BBs off one wheel :-/ ...I've concluded the opening the end of the hub has gotten "wallered-out" some how, although had to install them all w/ a hammer...guess I could drill/ tap a hole and keep it in w/ a set-screw...anybody run across this and found a better fix?... :P ...

On my last boat I had the same problem. I thought about drilling and tapping for a set screw, but I also needed a fender welded back on so I took it to a trailer builder had the fender fixed and two new hubs with bearings seals and all replaced. Bill Mc ;D
Set screw should work.

You might try cleaning the mating areas and carefully applying some lock-tite retaining solution.

Reelapeelin' had the same problem lost three in a row after I did some brake work about a 1 1/2yrs ago. Started a thread on www.iboats.com. do a search The thread ran a long time with many cures from screwing ,glueing, tapeing, welding peening, etc. none of this seemed to answer my question as to why some thing worked now was failing. Finally a gent sugested jacking up the wheel and spinning the wheel to make sure it was in even. It seems even seting it hard with a block of wood I was not getting it seated evenly even though it look perfect, problem solved. PS. use Fulton,s heavier, and cheaper. good luck Crusher
