SO DID WELLCRAFT ACTUALLY MAKE A V21 OR DID YOU GUYS WHO ADDED BRACKETS JUST START CALLING IT THE V21 ???
AND BLUE, IN YOUR GALLERY YOU HAVE PHOTOS OF A V20 DID YOU MAKE IT A V21 OR IS IT A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BOAT???

Cy,
I know its confusing...here's the scoop:
They did make a V21. It has a built-in "bracket". I think they made them for just a couple of years - maybe '92 - '95? Not sure on that. Mine is a '94.
In my gallery, those are 2 different boats. I have a '72 V20 that I need to sell soon and the '94 V21 which is my baby. All along I planned on repowering my '72 until one day I happened upon the V21 on this site for sale. I bought it, repowered with a brand new Yamaha and recently sold the old motor to MJ - I think you know what happened from there :'( :'( :'(
The '72 came with twin 140hp Johnsons. I sold those 2 motors to Skools and they now sit on the fastest fence in the southeast. I'm sure Skool's is waiting on the right project to use em on.
Did that clear it up? Here's a pic of the built-in "bracket":

Bracket makes for a nice open cockpit!

Last but not least, the '72 with twin 140's :o This was how it looked when I bought it. I did tons of work to it, not excluding totally rebuilding the trailer with new everything. And sunk $800 in the transom in preparation for the new motor. :-/

HEY,BLU:
CAN YOU SEND ME A PIC OFF THOSE ROD BOXES IN YOUR V-21? I BOUGHT SOME FROM FP MARINE (HAVEN'T RECEIVE THEM YET) THAT ARE 68" LONG X 16" WIDE AND WANT TO SEE HOW YOUR LOOK SINCE THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR.

Lesterus, yeah I'd be glad to. I'm not sure I have any pics in inventory - I'll check - if not I will snap a few over the weekend for you.
I looked at those from FP and almost bought a pair once on eBay. Could've got em super cheap too. I them better than the ones I have because they have 3 true rod holders per insert whereas mine have 2 rod holders and a little gaff holder (or whatever) in the middle.
From what I understand based on previous posts from guys on here that have replaced them, the ones from FP are slightly taller which means you might have to trim the hole out to fit them in.
Mine are in "not so hot" shape. They have a few cracks in them that the previous owner repaired with 5200. It won't be long and I'll need some too. I sure hope FP has em when I need em ???

Seat boxes are factory molded into the floor.
Hammer, I wouldn't take a $100,000 for it!! ( I'd take a lot less ;D).

HEY,BLU!!!
THANKS FOR THE PICS, CALL KEN AT FP MARINE, AFTER I TALKED TO HIM HE LISTED THEM IN HIS WEBSITE(WWW.FPMARINE.COM/PLASTICS) I THINK HE HAS 2 PCS IN STOCK THAT HE ORDERED FOR MY BUT THEY WERE
BRIGTH WHITE AND I WANTED THEM OFF WHITE. ANY HOW THE PRICE IS $120.00 A PIECE.
THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT MY INNER LINER DOES NOT GO STRAIGHT DOWN LIKE YOURS, BUT IT BENDS A LITTLE INWARD CLOSE TO THE FLOOR, SO I DON'T KNOW YET HOW I'M GOING TO FIT THEM, BUT BY LOOKING AT YOURS, I DON'T THINK YOU'LL HAVE ANY PROBLEM.

BLU!!!
FORGOT TO TELL YOU, YOUR V-21 LOOKS VERY NICE, BUT IT'S MISSING SOME STRIPING OUTSIDE, LOOKS TO
PLAIN WITHOUT STRIPPING.
Blue_Runner
08-22-2006, 04:05 PM
Lesterus, Thanks for the compliments! About the stripe, the previous owner painted the outside of the boat with awlgrip, therefore if there was a stripe it got deleted prior to prime and paint.
I actually happen to like the plain look. To me it makes it look nice and clean (and the fish haven't complained yet). Everybody has different taste when it comes to things like color, stripes, etc. and I happen to be a "no-stripe" guy ;)
Now if the stripe were there, would I bother to take it off? I doubt it, I'm too lazy to tackle a cosmetic-related job. ::)

hey rap, hows that trollin motor workon out for ya? i got an 80 pounder i was thinkin of mounting on the transom caouse i thought bow mount would be a pain. tx

08-22-2006, 11:16 PM
racer, it dawned on me a long time ago it's easier to control a slow boat PULLIN' it than PUSHIN' it...bow-mount's the only way to go IMHO, because you have so much more CONTROL...that one has Auto-Pilot which maintains last heading regardless of wind, current, etc...IT'S GREAT ;) ...
...get all you can for the transom-mount and put it on the bow's the best advise I can give ya ;) 8) ...

Good luck either way, racer...what kind of fishin' you and your V-20 do?...
racerx
08-24-2006, 10:28 AM
mostly specks and reds. i'll go after cobia and jacks during the times of the year when they come in close but i mostly fish shallow water. round here we will run 20 miles out into the gulf to fish marsh. i will prob try the transom mount. unde the right conditions it may help keep me off the banks without cranking big motor.tx

Racerx when do you plan on getting back on the water? What do you have left to do to your V?
