I'd say maybe the V-20 has been influential in the design of the new Edgewater 205 EX. What yall think?

Finally! A new boat in the 20' range, small cabin forward, and a large cockpit. I actually don't even mind the Euro-transom in this boat because the space was utilized for storage/livewells or whatever without significant loss of deck space.
Admittedly, for the money, it's hard to beat an old V20, but for someone in the market for a new boat in that size range, family friendly but still a fishing machine at heart, there ya go!
Nice work.

That's a really nice boat...I remember seein' that...would get one in a heartbeat... 8) ...
...only thing is 200 HP MAX seems low for 2800 lb hull of that type...but I'd still like to have it... ;D ;D ...

They list some decent performance numbers with a 150 Hp. I can't see why you'd need more than 200.

It's an Edgewater, don't think they are tied in with Donzi. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure the founder split from Whaler and they use the same construction methods.

Maybe 20 years from now I'll be able to afford a 2007 model ;D

I was thinking the same thing.

Yup. Edgewater Boats was founded by ex-Boston Whaler exec Bob Dougherty. He was one of the founding members of the BW team I believe. I worked for them when they were up here in my home town in MA before they moved to FLA. Mr. Dougherty has since moved on from Edgewater and founded Everglades Boats.

I also like the small cuddy design of the edgewater but it could definately use more flair for sloopy sea conditions and the everglades is also a nice design so if money were no object they would be excellent choices. I still believe that if wellcraft came out with a V-24 along the same exact lines as the V-20 it would be an overnight sensation. Frank

only going on what the lady rep at the Raleigh show for Edgewater told me. she said they were owned by Donzi.
off Edgewaters website
EdgeWater began with a handful of able craftsmen. We have maintained this small company mentality but now have large and growing company resources. In 1994, North Marine Group injected the financial, management and technological resources that enabled EdgeWater to become what it is today-- a leader in the design and construction of small, semi-custom boats. North Marine Group is a technological leader in many fields; its products are found on everything from America’s Cup racing yachts, to the space shuttle.
By the way North Marine Group is owners of Donzi and Tiara.

The company that owns Van Staal reels, also owns Zebco.
Does that make the Van Staal a lesser reel?
I think not. 8)

Mercury outboards!! Who would want one of them? By the way, I just retired my 1985, 150hp from my V20 after 22 years of service, and the VRO pump still worked. ;). Yep, replaced it with a 150 hp Mercury saltwater series. Sorry Schools, Mercury works for me. ;)

Read it again.
I'm saying that I don't have to like the Zebco to like and want a Van Staal. Now apply that logic (this goes for everyone else because we all know MJ knows no logic) to the large boat holding companies. I don't have to like the Bayliner to like the Edgewater. They are not even remotely the same. They are not made in the same facility. They are not made with the same materials or build specifications. As with the fishing reel holding company, the large boat holdings allow the different manufacturers to operate as separate entities. There is a defineable market for the Zebco reel as well as the Van Staal. The same is true for the Bayliners vs. Edgewater vs. Searay vs. Rybovich (hows that for a tangent?)
Clear enough? Now, I've got to take my meds! Someone might get hurt in the morning! >:( ;) ;D
