Thanks for the welcome. I had no idea that this site existed, I'm glad it's here. It is kinda spooky being welcomed with no prior post and knowing my outdrive is broken...j/k

Speaking of the outdrive, the upper gearbox is definately hosed. I'm going to have to rebuild it. I think I may be able to do it myself, but I need to aquire a few tools first. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the lower is still sound. There wasn't any shavings in the oil worth mentioning, and with a lack of oil in the upper case, little chance that any made it down there.

Lesson learned for sure.

Welcome Frayed-Knot. If New Bern is like my area, you probably have a good ole boy at a smaller shop that will help with tools since your buying parts from him. You got a nice boat and we can be helpful on this site if you can wade thu the BS. Beware the Hammer and Stinky Thong :o

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, my area has plenty of good 'ol boys. I think I may just take it to one old guy near here and have him look at it and give me a quote. He does good work, and is relatively inexpensive. I hear he has been around long enough to work on Noah's ark.

There really are some pretty good outdrive guys here...run thru the problem you had and where ya are now and see if any of these I/O-Heads can be of any help...think I remember it was low on oil?...

...If ya need any help postin' pics, there's lots of help here on how to do that, too ;) ...we're just a bunch of perverted old pharts, like to look at pics ::) ;D ;D...
