I have never seen any but thought I'd ask if anyone seen a souped up V20. I would think the V20's rigid hull and razor V to be a nice speedboat.

that's what they were originally they were race boats. one not to long ago was on ebay with a 454 BBC in it with bravo outdrive, and a outboard version was on ebay with a 250 yamaha too.

And one fellow that again selling his V on ebay has twin I believe 150's mounted on it. looks major a$$ heavy but if the transom holds I bet that puppy will fly. You remember it MJ, he had the piece of metal across the outside of the transom and he braced the inside with steel cableing to the stringers.

I remember!!

But I think th V20 isn't the best raceing boat unless it is flat calm!! You get a chop going and you going to bang pretty hard!

When my engine was new and I had a VERY clean bottom, speedo said we were doing 50. I can still get her up in the mid-40s with a light load. In order to do that I usually have to trim the engine up quite a bit, which makes the ol' PD feel pretty squirrelly, especially in a chop. Probably trim tabs would fix that. Now I don't know what you consider a speed boat, but for me that's PLENTY speedy. She really feels the best anywhere between 28 and 40 mph.

Remember the guy with the V-20 for sale who said it would do 80? ::)

Before Havis had it the previous owner claims to have recorded a GPS reading of 68mph on this boat.

two 140hp 1990 OMC. 14.5 x 24 CR 55mph @ 6200rpm (WOT) Flat seas, 40g fuel, just me on board.

Can do a lot better going with that screaming tide through the Galveston ship channel. I have clocked 70 on the gps with the tide and a 25mph wind at my back.
