Anybody know where I can get a manual for a Furuno GP-1600F chart plotter/FISH FINDER? Or just a copy of the fish finder/depth sounder part of the manual?

I found one for the GP-1600 (it's the same unit, but doesn't have a fish finder function) on the Furuno site. I only want to use the fish finder/depth sounder, and there are a bunch of functions I can't figure out from the really short Operator's Guide that I got off their site.

I emailed Furuno, but haven't heard anything for over a week, so they're probably not going to be much help.

Thanks - Scott

Thanks Franco - that's the one I have, and don't understand the fine points about CLUTTER, ADVANCE, Expansion Markers, TVG, etc., and thought the full manual might educate me so I could use the thing to full advantage. The following problem is something I'd like to solve, for sure.

I got the boat running and in the water (finally) and took it for a run which included the main channel of the Columbia River. We were cruising at around 25 - 30 MPH with the depth showing at 30' - 40' and all of a sudden it jumped up to 5' - 6' (it was a bowel loosening experience). I was pretty sure that couldn't have been correct (but just in case, I started following a boat with deeper draft then the V-20. It kept doing it every so often, and even knowing that it was probably not correct, it was pretty uncomfortable when it happened. I probably have some sensitivity setting wrong, and I'd like to get it cleared up. There's also supposed to be some fish finding settings, which I could really use - being not such a great fisherman, I can use all the help I can get.

Thanks again - Scott
