They moved her from the hosiptal to a rehab in Chatam today.
Its 17 miles from the house which isn't to bad. *But its the best!! Her 2 Doctors that did the op have checked it out with other doctors and gave them a award!
So she is in good hands!!

She wants home right now!! But she knows she has to stay and learn to walk again!! She is walking a bit with the walker, but it hurts alot!!

I will show you why:

This is were you exit if you don't want to look!!

WARNING THIS MAY MAKE YOU SICK!!

I am telling you!! I am tired! I run everyday for the hosiptal and a bunch of stuff!!

Now the rehab is 1/2 mile from the Ryders Cove Boat ramp I use all the time!!

I stop in there on the way in and out of the rehab, It F&*^ing killing me!!

I can't wait till she is out of there!! If I stay away from the water I am fine, once I start going I get real depressed!! :'(

O you were asking about the wife ::) She is fine, wants out now!!

I bet she be home next week!!

So just to let you guys know, my luck still hasn't changed!!
I just got the $800 for the motor, and the dryer in the house dies, so now I have to take $300 from the boat and get a new dryer!!

Will it ever end?? I am going to make a neck chain of rabbit feet, were it for a while and see if that helps??

MJ, check out Craigslist.org. There is a free section and usually you can find a free washer/dryer somewhere near you.

That's all that seems to be free - washers and dryers and puppies and kittens ::)

We looked on craigslist yesterday and came up empty. The one that I found was probably a 1 1/2 hour drive and the listing said "it probably works".
With MJ's luck lately, I'd bet good money that it doesn't work and he'd be out the gas money too.
Sometimes they're free because the owners don't want to pay the local landfill to have it disposed of. >:(

M.J.,
Took alot to scan this picture. Been there with your wife.
Wife should recover fine. I lost my tomb stone courage of deep diving. Only dive shallow now. Dont go knuckle to knuckle no more with criminals. I just shoot first. Less paper work. Slight memory loss and do off the wall things like buying a boat. ;)

macojoe
08-23-2006, 10:58 AM
Doc says that it is not infected!!

Says cause the staples are in her groin they are aratated ferom the movement in that area, and a few of the staples have pulled and the wound has started to open a little.

This is normal and that she has to keep that part covered now and no more PT for right now.

We are hoping to bring her home from the rehab center this week. She hates it there and wants to come home!!

I can't blame her!! I would not have lasted this long!! So they are trying to arrange for the VNA to come each day for wound care and PT twice a week.

We shall see??

Thanks all!

I've talked to MJ a couple of times today. His wife is back at the hospital. She was supposed to come home today, but she developed a bad infection and blood sugar is out of control. They picked her up in the ambulance and transported her to the hospital a short while ago.
the problems never end for the big guy. :-/

macojoe

Well here's the deal,

she went to doc the other day and they said some staples have pulled and that it was not infected ( I knew it was!!)

Told her to keep the leg up and stop PT. But my wife thinking she know better she did PT when they came for her and now the wound has opend right up!! and now has a infection!

Today her sugar kept droping to danger low and they could not get it up at the nursing home. So they called the Ambulance to take her to the Hosiptal.

They got the sugr up and looked at the leg, called the surgen and they cleaned it and say they will clean and change bandage every 4 hours till 100% clean.

Then they will put her on a Wound Vac. A wound vac is a great thing!! makes you heal like 10 X faster!! She was on one last year for a non healing foot wound.

They cut a spounge and put on the wound, wrap in plastic, pop a hole and add ther Vac to suck it up, much like a vac pack machine you use to pack fish.

They leave it for like 7 to 10 days. And when done your like new!!

I was at the nursing home from 6pm yesterday to 10 pm went to work 10pm to 8am at the home at 8:30 till 2:30 pm and then hosiptal till 7pm tonight.

I am wiped out!! I called out of work tonight, So I will get some rest. go to the home in the am to collect her belongings, then to the laundry mate cause the dryer is dead >:(, Then to the hosiptal to sit with her again!

Thanks all for your concern!!

macojoe
08-26-2006, 05:38 PM
Ok they have her on IV anti stuff and she is feeling better today!! the infection site is much cleaner and after her surgeon takes a look they will decide what next to do.

Macojoe,
Based on my experience with doctors and hospitals it's a damn good thing that you are there to keep an eye on the doctors and nurses. No matter how well meaning they may be, there's not enough of them to go around and they miss things. They also don't always communicate well. Be there, ask questions, and keep them on their toes. Hope your wife is on her feet again in no time.

Thanks again guys!!

She was operated on again today to repair the infection site.

Doc says all was well, they opened it up looked at the vain and said there was no damage to the graph and that he trimed all the bad stuff away and sewed it all up.

Hopes that this will the last time ever in that leg!!

If all goes well she might be home for the long weekend??

We will see

Ok we are back at the hospital now!! *:'(

Last wed my wife got very ill with a rash all over he back side?

Called 911 (i will spare you why) they took her to ER and they admitted her.

after a ton of meds they got things under control and she stayed in ICU till sat morning, now has a privet room.

she has some kind of a infection not to do with anything that she has had??

They did a CT Scan and found a huge abscess under the skin in her butt, they had to cut it open and drain it, what a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since they did that she has gotten 4 puss balls that have busted thur her skin in the leg and are draining and with in the last 24 hours another ball has surfaced on the back of the leg, the size of a of ball!

They no want to touch the one on the leg till they get tests back in the next 24 hour to find out what kind of infection they are dealing with??

She has been on a real strong IV antibiotic since Thursday and these things are still poping all over the place??

So far the graph site is ok, but he told me this morning if one of these things get near the graph it cause it to fail and maybe even lose the leg!

so we wait for the test to come back and then the infection control team will no better how to deal with it? *They say some strains of staph infections are resistant to some disease?

Ok thats it for now!! I have been awake for some 35 hours of the last 39 and 26 of that was work!

After I get a nap I will try to post the new motor pic's *:-/

MJ: I just read you whole post and what an ordeal you and the miss are going through. I just said a little prayer for you and the miss. Keep your chin up.

I did not hear what or how it happened, If it is not out of place could I ask how.

My wife had a broken foot. Then one year later she broke the ankle on the same foot. It took 8 weeks for the foot to heal and 6 weeks for the ankle which still gives her trouble a year later. I have been through some but not all that you have.

Stay by her side and tell her how much she means to you. I am sure this is a strong building block for your marrige.

Hopeing all gets better soon.

Turbo

10-16-2006, 10:26 PM
Thanks all!! I told her you are all praying and she said thats nice of all of you!!

I said you don't know them yet!! :o ;)

Turbo,

My wife is diabetic, heart, and vascular disease. She had been in the hospital for a host of other problems, mostly pneumonia.

The blood flow to the leg was shut off by clogged veins and that is were they did the first bi-pass, aorta to both groin's, this gave a good source of flow to both legs.

2 months later they did another bi-pass in her thigh were the vain was no good.

then 1 year later the 2nd bi-pass failed and they did the third bi-pass that started this thread.

When at the rehab she got a infection and that ended up causing the need for another operation to clean the wound and inspect the graphed vain.

That was a month ago. Now this whole new infection!! They have no idea were or what started this infection but its bad!!

All antibiotics have failed to help so far?? They have a culture at the infection control now and by tomorrow after noon we should no something and they will say what meds will fight this strain of infection.

So there you have it a brief history and diary of the last 19 months!

Thanks again guys!!!!!!!!!!!
