I've been talking about a radar arch since time began, at least for this site. *I've always balked at hardtops for a V-20 because I thought they were a little restrictive. *I've found the top that I want, at least this week. *Check this out...
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/Airslot/boattop.jpg
Gives me a place to mount the radome and I can still fish around it relatively easy. *All things considered it even reasonably priced, sort of.

Air, I'm not a big fan of hard tops on a V-20, but that one I like!! ;) 8) ...because it looks lighter-weight than most tops...go for it ;) 8) ...once ya get the top done, how long's it gonna be til ya want "Glass" curtains?...ya might wanna keep that in mind when you're talkin' w/ the top-maker...

TIn, I've got that pic saved away already. It was the forerunner last week. It is a little more restricitve in the front with the forward supports. Lots of times I've got two in the stern while I fish standing in the cuddy so I can run the boat when needed. Works great for fishing around structure.

Which fabricator are you going to use, I know of one in Mears that does really good looking work, and one of them broke off and went on his own down in Onley.
All those tops look nice, but I am more inclined to go with a Tee top.
I just remembered you have a cuddy, forget the Tee.

Turbo, I am going to talk to Standard, but looking at other options to keep em honest... ;) Who's in Onley?
Thanks,

Man, its a good thing I like you cause I had to get dressed and go out to my truck and get his card.
Eastern Marine Fabrications. He used to work at standard then started his own bussiness. My wife has been teaching with his father for several years now.

C_T_T; if you just copy and paste the IMG image tag, it'll put the pic in your post instead of the link. The link works too. But it's just easier to do the IMG tag.

Mrs. Airslot thinks that we type poorly and use bad grammar. I told her that our wives are rushing us and that we are doing the best we can to get our point across. I think she's been reading MJ's posts.
She actually typed "Have any of you ever caught a fish bigger than your ugly sticks?"
I'm going easy on her because I think she's on board for a new hardtop.

HEY CHARLIE YOU GOT THE SIDE CURTAINS FOR THAT? PICS?
Airslot

Ooooooouuuuuch! Feel like MJ been 'hind me or sumpin. Got 2 quotes at about 4k w/ no curtains. Hmmmm, my bimini is lookin mighty fine 'bout now.
Seems like a lota coin for a boat that seems to sell for 5-8k. But, if ya wanna play you gots to pay, so they say. May have to negotiate a little more w/ Mrs. 'slot.

Air: you got to take out Ms Air a little latter this year so she can feel the cold night air. Tell her you want her to go with you more often. Then maybe you will hear something like "if you would get a top I would like going out more". ???
Dont mention the price and go ahead and get one. When she finds out the price and freaks out, Tell her I was only thinking of you honey. :-[
Didn't work for me but maybe you will have better luck!!

Turbo, thats the way I do it anyhow. Heck, she didn't know about the boat till I brought it home. ;) After a dozen roses and explaining that it was paid for and there were no 12 years of payments she saw the wisdom of my ways...she wanted a new Seahunt 202 and the payment book to go with it. >:(n
Just gotta figure out how bad I want it...

cy, yeah we got a full enclosure for her but we aint gonna need it seein as how we already pulled her for the (short) season.
the guy fishmaster63 bought the boat from just put it on a year before selling. top was custom made for the boat and full curtains cost him $4,875.00.
fishmaster63 got the boat for $5,000.00 with trailer and i got it for $4,000.00 without.
all in all, not a bad score.

wow that is a hell of a deal. was the motor rebuilt or is it original? My I\O needs rebuilt.
charlie_the_tuna
10-17-2006, 12:42 PM
cy, not rebuilt but relatively low hours. just over a thousand. pretty low for a small block chevy. i figure if i get 300 to 800 more out of her than she owes me nothing.
when it goes i will probably go (you there maco ?) bracket.
C YENSEN
10-17-2006, 01:57 PM
not another bracket guy? I can hear maco making a mess of his shorts when he reads this. ;D

10-17-2006, 02:06 PM
naw, not really a bracket guy but i figure its alot easier than swapping out the i/o, and while im at it, i may as well rebuild the outdrive... alot more work than say, drop it over, glass it up, hang it and hang it.
still not sure, would like to get another 5 to 8 seasons out of her as is.

10-17-2006, 06:13 PM
I am sorry, But I like they way they look, the extra space, and the motor is much quiter behind the transom.
Over all its a great system and if I knew then wht I kow now I would not have spent near $3000 trying to keep the I/O going!
I wasted alot of time and money there!
