Have a 1978, V20, Cutty Cabin. To enter the cabin you have to step down. It appears to me that there should be some type of floor that is at the same level as the bottom of the door. The step down makes it dificult to get to the bow anchor line, load the boat on a trailer and pull up the trolling motor. How have you Cutty Cabin owners overcome these problems? Is there suppose to be a step down?
Thank You

Welcome to the site.

Yes there is a step down, getting up front isn't so much a problem as trying to stand and drive and then stepping to far to the left and falling into the hole!!

Here is what I did to my 1975

I made some cleats and bolted them to the side of the well, then added a 3/4" hatch cover made of starboard.

my 78 has a factory floor filler for inside the cabin and out in the deck area. The inside is covered in same material as the seats inside my cabin.

Here's what I did w/ mine... killed two birds w/one stone...found a 120 qt cooler to fit hole for fish-box, then custom cut 3/4" Starboard to cover remaining opening...as MJ said, you'll have to put support-cleats on the inside of the hatch for this to work (also made of Starboard and screwed to sidewall)

Good luck w/ yours and post some pics of what you do...we're pic-hounds around here ;D ...

...keep in mind, MJ's and mine are early '70's hulls ... yours will be configured diferently, but the same kind of thing will work for yours ... ;) ...
