Well, I think I might buy my first V20 . It is a 1984 V20 CC . I thas a t-top , gps, ff, new fuel tank and wiring , 2002 Yamaha 150 . It just needs a paint job . We took her for a test ride and was impressed until she ran out of fuel . I guess the fuel gauge was off . I am a little concerned that it may have sucked up some junk because he is not running a Racor . What do you guys think . He is at 7,000.00 firm .

Sounds like a good boat. Too bad they didn't put gas in her for the test drive.
Let em stew for a week then take $6000 in $100 bills and fan it out in front of em, they'll come down on the price.

I dont think I have much room . It is the original owner and the boat wasnt really even for sale until I asked about it .

Fly have you checked the transom real good for flex. Is the floor solid. And by a paint job are you refering to the bottom paint or hull/deck topside type of painting.
If all solid and you are talking about normal maintanence bottom painting it sounds like a nice ride. If it tickles your fancy go for it ;)

Willy beat me to it. Ain't none of us going to live forever. If it floats your boat and it don't break you, have fun with it.

The transom is solid as a rock . I was going to pain the entire boat in Imron White as I am not a fan of the brown deck . It needs a little fiberglass work on the keel as well . I was planning on using a product called duraglass . It is a vinylester filler that is very tough .

Fly, you don't mention a trailer in the deal...hope there's a JAMB-UP trailer in there somewhere...have a good marine tech check out the motor including compression-test and lower-unit oil...if good result, go ahead and get it ;D ...

With a trailer, good deal. *Without a trailer I would try and get him down like the others have said. *If you check http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=126324&posts=17 there is a V-20 CC for sale for $7000. *Looks pretty good.

W/ a good trailer, well made T-top and all you describe, get it...no difference between that and buying a $4,000 V20 then spending $3,000 making it what this one already is... ;) ...let's see some pix when ya can 8) ...

Well ,
I did it and am totally stoked . I took her out today for a shakedown run . I stayed completely dry and enjoyed the ride . Everything amazingly worked . I topped out @ 35mph 5k rpm with a very "rough" bottom . I just cant bring myself to take pics of her until she is clean . The plan is to clean up the gel coat for a year or so and then do a complete repaint. The bottom still has a good layer of barnacles that are going to be fun . I sure hope I pick up a couple of mile an hour with a clean bottom . Pics Coming Soon . Thanks for the info guys .

you might try toilet bowl cleaner on the bottom, that's what I use on mine when I bring it up at the end of the year.

Good luck with yours.
