Hi all,

I'm new here but I have read through a lot of this site already. I am looking for a nice V20 as it seems to be the right boat for me.

Problem number one is I live in Houston :'(

Problem number two is all the nice boats I have seen in my price range are in New Jersey.............

Man, if I could find a cost effective way of transporting a boat long distance I would be calling willy right now and picking up Old school ;D

So guy's, reassure me that if I am patient a nice V will show up closer to me.

Great site by the way, sold me on these boats in no time!

Check E-Bay, they have two V-20's listed there. Not bad prices either from what I recall. Glad to have ya. Keep us posted on what you find. ;)

Thanks for the ebay tip. I have checked the TX V20's on there already.

One seems to need transom work, and the other one has twin O/B's which is too much for what I need.

I missed out on one last week, had no motor, and seemed to just need cosmetic work and a repower. Got outbid at the last minute >:(

My ebay skills are unfortunately weak!

As CY says you'll find one. When I was looking, I found a CC V20 in Texas too far for me. I live in the Detroit MI area. Found this site and BS told me of the boat that I bought. Good Luck they are nice boats! Billy Mac ;D

Yep, I looked at that one already. It's just down the road from me. Nice enough boat but I am looking for a cuddy. The boss requires a "ladies room" before funds are approved ;D

I like the enthusiasm in helping me look. Keep it coming!

I am still trying to decide if I have the time and patience to take on a fixer-upper, or just wait until a nice setup shows itself.

Welcome to the board, Yank ;D ...the 1st V-20 I ever saw was in Boat Trader in Houston ...showed the ad to a friend of mine...few months later, he spotted the one I bought here in SC ... so keep the word out and it'll happen ... suggest you look for one yr mod '80 and above...those have belly-tank and flotation in hull. ... I like OBs, but plenty here happy w/ I/Os ...take your time and don't fall in love w/ one til AFTER ya buy it ;) ...check 'em out good and have a trusted tec do compression test on motor and lower-unit check ;) ... it'll be hard to find one w/ no work to be done, so be thinkin' about what you're ready to do to one ...good luck and keep us posted on what ya do ;D ...

If ya like Willy's he might meet ya half way or somethin' ...that's one that IS ready to GO!!... 8) ...

Yanki, If you want to win an auction on EBay you need to bid your maximum bid in the last 30 to 15 seconds. Last 1 minute bids are won if you are the only bidder or your bid is too high! Works for me!

Geek, what if you bid and win on a boat, go to pick it up and find it's no good?...haven't you put down a deposit by then?...

Reelapeelin, I have reservations about ebay for that very reason.
I am not comfortable buying a boat that I haven't seen. Or at least had a good inspection by an independant assesor. I have had less than good luck with ebay in the past so maybe I am a little gun shy?

Anyway I would prefer to make a deal over a handshake than a computer ;D

I will keep looking, something will pop up that isn't 1600 miles away............

I'm sure it will, Yank...Houston/Galveston is a HUGE market (and ya might wanna put out some feelers in Corpus Christie) ... these boats literally can pop up anywhere ;) ...

...The last time I was in Galveston, 4-5 yrs ago, we were drivin' toward the beach goin' right thru town and here comes a PU towin' a V-20 8) ...if I hadn't had a car fulla inlaws and younguns, I'da spun around and followed 'im... ;) ;D ...

Thats one of the nice things about a boat that wa mass produced for 25 years. You can find em everywhere, of course when you not looking. The hard part is to find when when your in the mood to buy. ;)

Slot...sat here and watched your motor run for a minute or so...2-stroke motors shouldn't work, you know that, doncha...

I dunno REEL...I just sat and watched it and now I'm scared to death I'm gonna hang a ring. *My mood as of now is that I'm proudly running 2-strokes...if I could swing that Suzy DF-175 I'd have to change that gif today ;D

However, I could still be swayed to run an Opti or an Etec. *I'm sorta hoping I don;t have to make that choice just yet... *:o

Yeah, I know what ya mean about havin' to ''step up'' ::) ... but as far as 2 vs 4 ...there'd probably be an E-Tec on mine right now if they'd been out when I needed one 8) ...
