Well fellows, pulled the trigger after a few months of shopping. When the motor arrives in 2-4 weeks I will own my first new boat.
It does not have the bow flair of the V but it is a sweet rig. I have an additional seat on the front port side being put on and another pedestal seat for the already installed floor pedestal base also.
I went with a Yamaha 60 HP four stroke, getting a six year warranty, and it is a lifetime warranty from G3 on the hull.
Talked to some fellows at the sportsman show two weeks ago. They use this exact boat for fishing the bay (Barnegat) and duck hunting in the fall.
Could of gotten a fancier rig, all carpeted and such but I have been there and done that, too much work and cleaning for all around use. This boat has no wood inside at all, it is all aluminum including the floor which has a tread pattern in it. Hose it off and kiss it good night.
Trolling motor with pedal control, 27 gallon livewell with rounded corners inside.
Supposed to do 34 mph two guys half a tank, two batteries etc. with a 50 horse, should do a little better with the 60. The hull is riveted and welded and doubled in the front half with two plates of .080 + .080 metal.
I know its not a salt water specialty boat but it will serve for me to fish the bay where I spend the majority of my time and will let me get in some back bays I could not go withthe V, 8" draft.
I have got to add some accessories like rod holders and I declined there package fishfinder, I want something better.
There ya have it, should be on the water by first week of april.
Did pretty good money wise, Boat motor trailer and some accessories 14G's with tax and reg included.
Wish me luck, I'll post pics when I pick her up ;)

You're gonna love that boat willy. It'll serve you well for many years. Even if you decided to go back to a bigger 'glass boat, that's one that you'll end up keeping and being a two boat owner. Your son will be using that one too. 8)

That may be my plan but Shhhh the CEO might here you 8)
I plan on getting a salt boat some time in the future, one of the major reasons I finally decided to get a nice tin boat was that I am going with my neighbor, close friend and fishing buddy next weekend. He is buying a Parker pilot house and keeping it in the water. I will be out probably more with him than I was with my V by myself.
My best friend lives an hour and twentyu away from me on the Barnegat Bay and has the 25 Grady. I go out a dozen times a year with him fishing.
Both love the fresh water fishing also and now I can hook us all up for a day on three difrrent lakes and one gorgeous river all with in twenty minutes of me.

God help a man with a plan ;)

Looks like a good boat, I have been thinking small
for crabbing, just thinking.

Don't think that your striper fishing days are over,
there are a couple of lakes here in Pa. that
people pull stipers out almost as big as ocean stripers.

Raystown lake, in west central Pa, my friend at work fishes there all the time and he has shown me the pix.

Here's the link to Google maps:

Mt. Pleasant?

As much as I would love to, I just don't get enough free time
to go fresh water fishing.
But if you get over this way, let me know and we can hook up.

Woo hoo, heck of a nice tin boat Willy! You are crappin in the high cotton now!

Hows about a jet drive on that 60hp 4-stroker - that would get you up in some ankle deep water....

I know one thing - you are gonna love the gas mileage!

Congrats!

Thanks Cy and Blue, don't need a jet on it, nothing I am going to fish with a V bottom is that shallow. Plus two guys I met that use them for the Delaware River sold them, did not like em for a variety of reasons. Real good I believe if you are running shallow rocky rivers like those western boys do in Alaska but otherwise a prop does fine.
It will be easy for me to launch and haul etc. which is what I need right now. I also need to get back to fishing the nice lakes and rivers I got here right near me.
I can still hit the bay for stripers and fluke, no problem with this set up. It has pretty deep hull and only drafts 8" so that will get me a few spots high and low tide others don't fish. Plus I'll be camo'd up, I'll sneak in on them fishies

;D
