I just joined here today and wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I hope this is the right place for this post because I didn't see any place for new member introduction. Please forgive me if I put this in the wrong spot.
My name is David, I am from Connecticut and I just bought a real "gem". It is a 1976 V-20 in awesome condition and she looks almost new. I am picking her up tonight and I am still in shock that I was able to buy this beauty from the owner. I have always had small boats and this is a first for me owning such a vessel. I honestly feel like I won the lottery! I cannot wait to go on the maiden voyage and do some fishing for stripers.
I will be adding some pictures to the V-20 Gallery as soon as I get it home to take some photos. This is truly a great site and you all seem so family like. I only hope I can be part of this V family in the future.
Looking forward to buying a couple of the V-20 Tee shirts also! I am "totally psyched" as my two teenage daughters say. I cannot wait till my son who is serving in the Air Force sees our new baby, he will be very pleased and anxious to come home I am sure.
I named the V-20, BENJENKATE, after my three wonderful children. Sorry for my ranting but the V-20 craze has me by the seat of my pants! Thanks for such a great website...

Thanks Stinky_Hooker for the welcome. My knees are still shaking from the anticipation of bringing BENJENKATE home for the first time. Reminds me of when my oldest child (son) came home from the hospital as a baby for the first time. I was the proudest Dad and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face with a 2X4! I feel like that again now.

Hey Shawsee did you see in the for sale section where one of our members, Shicks007 is thinking of selling his '76? He did an awesome restore job on that thing. Your '76 look anything like his?

I understand. A boat is much like a child....you are thrilled to first bring em home, sometimes you want to beat em, but most times they make you proud. ;D

I'll throw my welcome in here also. I just purchased my second V20 and I'm excited as you are. I sold my 75' some years back and I've missed it the day it rolled out of my yard. The 76's got those red and blue strips? My only problem with those era boats are the limited fuel supply from those saddle tanks. I always had three plastic 12's lined up across the back. That being said, you'll love that boat.

WOW,
Thanks to all who gave me this warm welcome! I got the boat home ok and now I am doing little things like, new trailer lights, cleaning & primping, you all know the routine I'm sure.
It does have the red & blue stripes and on a big blue V-20 decal on the sides. I know some of you asked and the V is powered with a 175 HP Johnson. It came with a cool bimini top (stand up with front windows and side curtains) and also he gave me another blue mooring cover that snaps along the windshield and snaps down the sides. Also he threw in a porta potti, bumpers, flares, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
When I arrived home last night my wife and two daughters were climbing all over it checking it out, and they approve!!!!! I know when I send pictures to my son in England he is going to flip. Our old boat was only a 15 footer and he & I had so much fun with that boat. I do miss my son dearly and cannot wait for his safe return so he and I can pick up where we left off 18 months ago. So as you can tell I am like a kid right now and still in awe over my baby. I did take some pictures but my wife will have to do her magic and install them online because I am computer stupid. HAHAHA. So please all bear with me for the pictures and I promise as soon as she installs them for me I will add them to the V-20 Gallery.
Also today my UPS driver stopped by and he informed me he has a V also! I asked him if he belonged to this site and he said yes, but I cannot remember his screen name. Anyway, thanks again to the very warm welcome here and I am so very proud to be part of this family.
Pictures coming soon...

Oh man, that's a beautiful boat! You weren't kidding when you said it looks new.
Did you buy it from the first owner? Was the boat ever used? That thing is clean!
By the way, how much did you pay for her?

OK first from what I recall, the man I purchased her from owned it for 15 yrs. I think he also said he was the second owner and the first owner barely used it. Please forgive me because things he was telling me wasn't sinking in my brain because I was, and still am, in complete AWE.
He was originally asking $6800 for everything included and I knew that his asking price was way out of my reach. So I emailed him and complimented his boat(how beautiful it was) and that I couldn't stop drooling over it. I also was honest with him about my savings and he said,"why don't you come down and see it and then we can talk." So I had nothing to lose other than a $20 for gas. I went there and was in shock and could barely function. We talked and then he told me that if he didn't sell it in one week that I could have it for the amount I saved up which was $5500.
I called him the next day and he told me some other guy was there (as we speaked) looking at it and that the guy wanted to buy it for $6000, I WANTED TO THROW UP AND DIE! All I had was the $5500 and my wife said "NO MORE MONEY" I was sick to my stomach and my nerves were getting to me because I wanted this boat BADLY.
So he then tells me that he is giving this other guy until Tuesday to come up with the money :'( I couldn't eat or sleep fpr the next two days. I did the next best thing and I prayed and left it in God's hands. Tuesday night the phone rang and my wife answered and she said,"it's the man with the boat." My knees buckled and my heart sank, I just knew he was going to say,"sorry the boat was sold tonight". I picked up the phone and he said,"David, are you sitting down?" I replied," I know, you sold it to the other guy, right?" He then replied,"NO it's your boat if you want it!" OH MY GOD I yelled. And that was that, I ran down to his place the very next day with cash in hand $5500 and drove her home.
