I'm new to the site as I just purchased an 88 V-20 with the 3.0 Sea Drive engine. Great shape. A little elbow grease will bring her character back out. I'm looking for any insight anyone is willing to offer on issues to watch for on the 3.0 or tips in general.
Love the pics in the gallery. Makes me drool and my wallet starts feeling lighter!!
Will add pics later.

Welcome, congrats on your purchase, and yes we love pics here!
Where in northern Maine are you? Maine is kind of my spiritual home state -- no, I've never lived there but I get there as often as I can (every few years) and have several lifetime friends there . . . and I got my two yellow Labs there, so I guess you could say I'm a little tied to the state. I've been a subscriber to Down East and Maine Boats & Harbors, well it used to be called that, for many years. I had my replacement fuel tank fabricated in Kennebunk. In fact, my wife & I will be coming up this October. I think we've only had one other member on V20.com from Maine.
Anyway, welcome again, and I look forward to hearing more from you.

How's the Sea-Drive runnin'? What HP? Have you checked or changed the oil in the lower-unit?...if ya just got it, I'd be lookin' in there for H20 or excessive shavings ;) ... is the VRO still hooked up and oiling the motor good...there's a train of thought that advises disconnecting the VROs on those and mixing you oil/gas...VROs have a history of failure, which will TOAST yer motor ... good news is, if that motor goes down (hope for you it doesn't) a common fix is to hang a bracket and Outboard on that full transom of yours... ;) ...

Welcome!!
As far as the Seadrive goes if it is running good great!! if its something minor fix it, but they are getting harder and harder to get parts for, Don't put a lot into it, Run her hard and when it dies, or while you are waiting for it to die, look around for a used bracket,
When the seadrive dies convert and add a new outboard! Very easy for a Seadrive!!

The boat is currently at the shop having the motor looked at. Motor runs great! 200 hp. Oiler still working. Haven't had her in the water yet, wanted to have the motor looked at first. Only thing I noticed is although there is water coming out of the "pee valve" it is not a steady stream. Not sure if that is normal for the sea drive or not. Hence having someone look at it that knows more about it than I do. Thanks for the input.
Will post pics when I get it back from the shop next week.

My 140 doesn't spray a steady stream on the hose, but is fine in the water. Mine pumps more than the hose can give it.

If any of you Sea Drive guys are interested in picking up a spare drive I have one I plan on selling soon. I removed it and went with a bracket and o/b. It's the drive minus the motor... Make me an offer I can't refuse and it's yours...
