Well the family and I just spent the last 9 days at Holden Beach, NC. *The first3 days we stayed at my parents place near the ICW, the rest of the time in a rented house on the beach with my wifes family. *We had a wonderful time, the weather was great, I got in a little fishing and a lot of boat riding.
The second day there my son and I went out about 24 nautical miles out and loaded up on grey snapper and a few large black bass. *We went in hopes of king mackerel and mahi mahi but a recent front had them in lockjaw mode. *We were fishing an area frequented by charter boats and they were not catching anything either. *My son also caught about a 4 foot sand shark, he had a blast.
We had a bunch of these, none real big but all very tasty, they provided dinner for several meals.

My mom had asked me to catch as many blue crabs as I could while I was there, steam em up, and put em in the fridge so she could pick them out when she got there today (Friday). *After I had about 50 in the fridge I called her, she said that was enough. *I even got a nice 3 pound flounder in the crab pot one day, it made a fine lunch.
After the move to the beach house I mostly played with the kids on the beach. *A couple of days it was so calm that I took the V right up to the beach and gave innertube rides to the kids.
We had several days like this, the wind was comming off the beach and made it slick along the beach. *I dont think the seas got over 2.5 feet all week, and that was during a thunder storm.

Later that day there was a rainbow and hundreds of bottlenose dolphin playing 100 yards off the beach.

I put about 50 hours on the boat while I was there. *
Life is good.
