You sure you want to roll the dice on shipping? I hate to dig up old bones but I can't help but remember that last shipping debacle that you and I went through! Lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then found, then lost, then still lost, then still lost, then found...then damaged....missing parts etc. etc. etc.
I guess just make sure they crate it up better than I did and try to get some good shipping insurance. I wouldn't do it without those 2 things.
Good luck!

I have to hope that, that was not the norm in shipping!!
Tunahead sent me a nice shipping site were you can ck the drivers that bid on your shipment
Much like ebay feed back, if they look good go for it, if a driver has bad feed back you can deny them.
So I will take another chance.
But is that a looper?? Like the one I have?? I can get it and keep mine for parts ;)

Well, that does sound much better. I wish we'd known about that ::) I don't know on the looper/crossflow question.

Here's what Ferm said about that motor:
Your 86 150 is the same basic engine that MJ has on his V-20, old school cross-flow engine. They are thirsty gas hogs for there output. That 86 225 is a good engine on fuel. It's a small-bore looper. The later 200/225's burned more fuel than the 86-87's small-bore's. The 88-91 large-bore loopers aren't that bad on fuel, but the 93+ are known to burn more. The later engines are more reliable, but I like my early small-bore looper. I've actually been eyein that engine myself. I like small-bore engines, LOT's of potential to build some HP

YES, she is definately a looper MJ. In fact it is the same looper you have now. 86-87 were basically the same engines. Have at her MJ, I need another engine right now like I need another boat :-[. And if your really froggy about her, I'll send you the article on how to make 300HP out of her reliably.

I will never buy a used motor from Florida. The boating season down there is year round resulting in alot more hours compared to the NE. Also that motor looks like it was painted, I like to see the original condition of everything so I can tell how the previous owner took care of it. When I see new paint I think lipstick on a pig. I think you can find better locally.

Great I will be watching her this afternoon!!
Now I need another loan! I will have nothing at this rate when I sell the V, If it sells??
Thanks!!

Our boating season is pretty much year round down here, but what alot of people don't think about is things rot from sitting not working. There are alot of engines down here that get used day in and day out still in good shape because they get used. Another thing to consider is where that engine is isn't far from LAKE OKECHOBEE. There are still quite a few people that have good sized boats on the big pond. I got my MERCURY from down there, it there isn't the first sign of it haveing ever been in saltwater before I got it.
The engine in the auction has seen salt, no doubt. But look at the pic of the steering arm, it appears to have little to no pitting on it. And the clamp bracket only shows some minor corrosion around the tilt tube. I would like to see some better pictures of the whole engine myself, but of what's visible shows good.

It does look good, but like HAMMER said Shipping cost,
I'll bet we could arrange a train to meet each other
and transfer the motor up to MJ.
I have easy access to the I-95 and I-81 corridors.

$500 to get shipped, I have checkesd all ready, got one bid for $450
I agree Therm, motors are ment to run and alot of stuff up this way goes bad cause they sit 8 months of the year!!
The train to MJ sounds great!!
But lets see if i get it?? I am calling in some markers right now :-/

Dear universalmaco0,
I've owned it for the last 10 years. I am the second owner. It's never overheated as long as I've owned it. When I bought it, it had 160 hours on the clock. As far as present hours, I don't think I put 25 hours a year on it since I got it. I would estimate around 400 hours.
