You thinking of patching one?
This will do a lot, from temporary to permanent.

Also keep in mind it may have been replaced.
Or is alcohol fuel a concern? There is a whole post somewhere on it.

I had to repair the hatch over the fuel tank off for repair in my '89 a couple of years ago. The tank was plastic. Mine has an inspection cover over the filler / vent hose connections and the fuel guage sending unit. If you have these also you could open one and see the tank and determine what the tank is made of

My 84 has an ALUMINUM, but I looked at an 86 that had a plastic tank.

Mine are aluminum. I had a leak. Fixed it with Marine Tex. No good. Cleaned that off and used JBweld. Worked great. A year later it's still good.
For plastic...I dunno. Maybe somekind of hot glue gun or if ya rough the surface up enuff MAYBE the JB will bond to the plastic. ???

If you need to repair the plastic, be very careful. This ethanol gas eats up polyurethane, so whatever you use, make sure the gas won't deteriorate it...
