SAME FAMILY, DIFFERENT SPECIES. THEY ARE BASICALLY COUSINS. THE BIG BLUE MARLINS WILL ACTUALLY EAT THE WHITE MARLINS. THE WHITE MARLIN GETS TO A MAX SIZE OF AROUND 115 POUNDS, THE BLUE MARLIN CAN REACH SIZES OF 1200 POUNDS. OTHER THAN SIZE, AND COLOR THEY ARE BASICALLY THE SAME FISH

Yeah, did you see where Dream Catcher out of Cape May sank to the ocean floor this morning at 6am? All crew were picked up by passing boats and are safe.
Said the 60' Paul Mann boat hit something in the water and went down very quickly.

i did not hear about that :o
where did you hear about that BLUE??

I heard the same thing as Blue. I heard it struck something in the water about 20 miles off. The Dream Catcher suposedly almost sank last summer during the Mid Atlantic 500 tournament in Cape May. I'm not sure what the problem was last year.

Heard it on the Bass Barn in the offshore section this morning:
www.thebassbarn.com
Cy, they said once the other 2 boats picked up the crew, they continued fishing rather than bringing the Dream Catcher crew home due to all of the tourny $$ at stake. Can't say I blame them. It was nice of them to take a tourny time out just to rescue the crew as I'm sure there's some out there that would have turned a blind eye to a sinking boat in lieu of the $$.

Haven't heard anything official although several guys said big lines of heavy debris were in the stream that day. These guys were 30 miles off at 5:30 am, so you know they were running in the pitch dark :o

I fished on the Sea Toy, if its out of Oregon Inlet. The article said it was one of the boats that rescued the crew. I fished a charter on here several years ago and caught a 98 lb yellow fin, my first North Carolina citation! Tha Captian was Bull Tolson, a hell of a good captian.

Bull, Sea Toy, fishes out of Pirate's Cove..so does Hog Wild, the tourney leader the first day. Know them both and have fished Bull a few times. Was at the Cove last week and most all the boats up at the tourney!

:-[Nope no bills...bailed dolphin till we couldn't bail no more. We fished south and all the bills up north right now. Had a sail and a big hoo run thru the spread. Grass way scattered south. Spent most the day clearing lines. Going back 1st week Sept..need to fill the freezer with some tuna!

I ya want to dive the Dream Catcher, well, she's sittin in Cape May NJ. They towed her in at 3.5 knots sunk and then floated her once they were inside the breakwall. An old repair gave way and she had a hole in her hull about 12" x 18".

I am hoping that the plywood on the bottom is covering where the patch work is done and not the patch its self. Please tell me I'm right.
Airslot
01-07-2007, 12:35 PM
The plywood is covering where the damage is. The boat had been holed a few years ago and patched. The patch gave out under way and the boat went down. The divers screwed that plywood to the hull so they could float her.

happened over the fall during the WMO in OC MD that boat was patched at Jarrett Bay in 2003 the yr it was built the boat struck a post here in NC during the 2003 Big Rock and sank in the harbor. That's twice a 2003 boat has sank i'd sell that boat.

That happened about August 10th, give or take two days. Yep, that rascal sank twice. He was getting ready to take delivery of his new 68, in dact he should have it by now. I'd look for it to be on the market as soon as all the repair work is done.
