We were going to see a Canvas guy about getting a new Bimini top, Well we get to the place and there was no more building!! Gone so we have no way of knowing were the guy went?

So I went to a guy near me here on the Cape and he said he could not make a new top and make it match to the curtins the right way??

Thats when I thought to myself then he is in the wrong Biz! I mean I have all with me in the back of the truck, all he has to do is copy it??

Then he goes on to say that he can build all new for $3000 :o :o :o :o :o

I said no deal, then he says well if I use a frame I have here nd order a Bimini off the shelf and all he had to do is make the curtins, it would be cheaper.

But he did not know a price?? He will get back to me?

But I will tell you what a hot wife he had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was worth walking back up to the office for a Biz Card just toget a look at that perfect rack!!!!!!!!!!! :P ;) ;D

And CB just loved my shirt today!! ;)

My wife is quite awsome with a sewing machine. She has made all sorts of stuff in the past and friends and neighboors have brought her complicated stuff like prom dresses and gowns for last minute alterations after a professional has screwed it up. She even made my daughters prom dress from scratch. I figure that a bimini (which I also need a new one of) would be no sweat. Except she has no interest in doing it.

With the prices these guys charge she could make a small fortune just doing side jobs I would think. I wonder if I could find a used heavy duty sewing machine on ebay and try making one myself. When she see's what a pathetic attempt I was making she probably couldn't help herself and would take over. Or maybe not, anything boat related is a sore point. Well, maybe I could get my money back for the machine on ebay?

LOL ;) Any pictures??

Really if she can sew and started to do even simple things she could make so bucks on the side.

Years ago I made windows for a boat6 I had, they did not look the greatest, but they worked.

I am still looking and I am sure I will find someone else but it was a bit of sticker shock, being that it is a small walk around and all.

Your gonna to have to go thru the whole thing to find the size(s) that you want.
Look carefully, some have ABS fasteners and some have stainless.

MJ, the guy is right when he says that copying there are no gaurantees.

I found a guy in my area that does canvas,
he contracts with some Mennonite women that do the sewing.
Thye used my old canvas as a template, but there were still issues.

Some parts were long others short
and the snaps were 80 % correct.

But then again, he did the whole top including the rear and side
cover's for $350.
The sidea are not on in this picture.
