Bracket Info

Well , I am trying to plan out my restoration and am contemplating a bracket . I have an 84 CC V20 with a 2001 Yami 150 . I have heard stories on how it can mess up the ride . On the other hand I would love a full transom for backing down on wrecks . What do you guys think ?
I am also still looking for info on the original in deck livewell . It appears that this was never plumbed with a pump and drains into the bilge . Does anyone know if it is possible to plumb this with a pump and traditional thru hull drain or is it too low ?

I have both: a bracket and the factory in floor livewell. Performance is great, but I have a dual console. I'm sure the center console may react a bit differently, but overall should be great performance.

Kamikaze can give you a better idea of what to expect since he has a cc with bracket.

As for the plumbing question, I haven't touched mine. I got the pump working, but that's as far as I've gotten.

I think Kamikaze and FLBuilder both have issues with the bracket on their center consoles. But the bracket seems to work great on the cuddies and duallies.

Do you have the round livewell in the floor or the rectangle one?

Yes CC seems to have a few problems with weight in the rear??

But also you want it for backing down, that is the only problem I have seen with the brackets!!
When you back down the wash from the prop gets pushed against the hull rather then under it, the result is a very slow back down with little control.

Over all its the best thing I have done and would do it again in a heart beat!!

But if your needs are different then its something to think about.

Is your CC a center console or a cutty cabin?

If you have a center console I'd make sure you relocate the fuel tank farther forward than it current location. If you look in my gallery you can see pictures of what I had to due to fix the weight distribution of my 74 center console.

Basically, if you don't redistribute the weight in a center console there isn't enough weight forward of the hull's center of gravity and the stern sits to low in the water in the rear. In this orientation, the water across the prop is adversely affected and it WILL cavitate the prop even at normal speeds. In my case I attempted to lower the bracket so that the cavitation plate was even with the keel and still had the same issue. However, relocating the fuel tank fixed my problem.

Thanks for the info . It is a center console and has a rectangular in deck lievewell . I will post some pics the next free weekend I get . How far forward does the fuel tank need to go ?

well fr that question, I would wait till you converted, then add sand bags to the bow till you get the desired affect.
Now you will know how much weight has to go forward and then do the math to see how to get it there.
