Guys do you know of any online resources that have torque specs for OMC motors . . . and or exploded diagrams? I have a friend that just picked up a couple of motors and is looking for some good online resources.

See how far this takes you. I got fuel pump replacement schematics to replace the VRO. Haven't dug too deep into the site. Let me know what goes on.

Looks like I'm an OMC man as of today!!! I have to remove it from his boat this weekend, but I put down a deposit and got a bill of sale. Looked a the damage . . . . just needs a new cylinder and a light hone in #1 . . . I get controls, tach, and all rigging too.

Anyone have an extra OMC lifting eye or flywheel puller they want to part with . . . or lend/rent to me?

BS, I've got a lifting eye I would lend you, but I'm way out here in MD... If you want to pay for shipping both ways, I'm happy to lend it to you.
Otherwise, I know Skools has a number of ways to make homemade lifting eyes...

The 50 & 70hp OMC's used to have lifting rings and some 4 cly.
We have made ours universal for Merc, Mariner and Omc by welding a 1/4" T shaped plate with a 1" hole for the lift eye and 3/8" holes drilled for the flywheel puller threads.

Thanks you guys . . . I think I'll be in good shape just building one like that . . . I've got to get a flywheel puller now. I've got a Merc Flywheel puller, but I don't think they're the same as the OMC.

I used this for my old FICHT as a lifting eye.

I do things the hard way!! I wrap a Yellow webed tow strap around making my own harness and use the come along to lift, has worked everytime!!
But the harness is never the same twice!! :P

I was just reading about the 90's 200 and 225. Looks like the only difference was the carbs . . . Anyone running one of these on there V20?

OMC didn't have all of the major porting differences like MERCURY does. They normally used different carbs, different tuners, and sometimes different reeds. The XP and GT's are a whole nother story though.

Grace - Do you have any performance numbers . . . GPS top speed or fuel burn? What prop are you running?

BS, I'm ashamed to say that I don't have any performance numbers. I don't have a speedometer, nor do I have a GPS, sorry... :-/
I do know my boat screams ;D It's fast... 8)

Don't be ashamed . . . 10 years ago we'd all be w/o a GPS . . . and be lucky to have a speedo or fuel management. Someone might of had a loran. I think I bought my first GPS in the summer of 1998. What prop and how many rpms are you turning . . . I can figure out speed from those numbers :)

BS,
I'm running a 14 1/2 X 19 SS prop. I ran it at 5300 RPM's trimmed down as far as possible and still had a little ways to go on the throttle.
