On the new board??

There will be better things, like picture posting and general stuff like that, But what else would you guys would like to make things a little better??

Are you happy with the different sections? There is a little thought about adding a Forsale section not for boats, But what else??

I am sure I will be limted in some stuff, but like to set up for the better of the board.

So let the ideas flow, they might not work, but will try to give it a shot.

Things are pretty nice right now. I do like the thought of a misc. for sale section. What do you think about a spot to archive pics of perfect specimens of "V"s, whether they were for sale or drive by photos. I suppose ones oppinion of perfect might not be anothers though.

The reason I'm thinking of this right now is, I'm trying to find an old post of a completly redone V20 CC that was light blue with a new motor and all, it was perfect. Just a thought.

After the site is all up and running I was planing a God area were no one but gods can get into ;)

But thats way later, I just bought the new server space and have it all set to go as of today!!

I am hoping to have things going the 1st? But there is a ton of work to get all this stuff moved to the new server let alone on to VBulletin!

So bear with me!! It is coming!! And I am learning a ton of stuff that I am not sure I wanted to learn!! :o

Thank God for my friend John, He is are New Webmaster, He is teaching me ton';s of stuff but he will be are behind the seen's tec guy!!

He has been a member since spring, but does not boat or fish, so he has never posted.

actually a second for sale section makes no sense cause then you have to open both to see if you want something for sale leave it all together if any thing make a projects only section so we can look threw others projects and how we did stuff. that way it wouldn't be lost in no topic land or general land forever. then see like floor fix's hatch replacements boat rebuilds cabin mods. anything that was a hull redo project or even a trailer wouldn't have to be a v20 cause all boats rot and need fix's.

I don't like the idea of a "gods only" section for the mere fact that it would cut out folks who perhaps spend a lot of time on the forum, but who don't post a whole lot. I think it would be a disservice to the forum to keep these folks out just because they aren't as "chatty" as some others are...

Furthermore, it's quite likely that some of those threads would be on topics that would benefit many others on the forum. It would be a shame to keep it to just a few guys when others could benefit from the info....

Just my two cents.

The "How To" section I always thought of as more "how to post pics" kinda threads. Projects would be nice to have well.

I say we put in a FAQ section at the very top. As well as the rules and guidelines in there. Maybe set it up so that new members have to go through a tutorial before they can post. Also maybe make it so you have to wait say 24 hours before you can post after registering. This would help cut down on the spammers. Another one i like is making it so that you havee to be a member for X number of days before you can post in the for sale section. These ideas all came from another forum I frequent, and they really helped to cut down on the mischief and maintain order. Unfortunately as a forum grows, there will be growing pains.

And as for the GODS section, I say make it an extreme off topic section where pretty much anything goes(within moderation). That way usefull information for the V OX isn't lost, and nobody is excluded from it. It would be a big old B.S. section ;D.

If you guys will keep all of the racy stuff in the "nudie room" that will be great. Maybe call it the "grown up" topic.

I am always having to be careful what topic I open with my 3 kids around.

And when we had avatars and several guys had the shaking boobs, I just had to stay off the site when the kids were around, I don't care to go back to that.

As for advatars, it will be much like before, but I will be watching for anything that should not be there!!

Therm, I have thought alot about what you have sugested. We have new members every day!! some were here just to swell and gone!

The gallery will remain the way it is for now, it works and wil be a big pain to change at this time.
It will be moved to the new server with everything else, but be the same till we get the new board up and running., I am sure we will have bugs to repair and we will lose some stuff.
Leaving the gallery as is will be one less problem!

The Gallery: *I wouold visit more often if there were a link from the board page. *I have the boards saved as a favorite, but if I want to go to the gallery, I have to back track to the home page, then go in from there. * No, its not terribly hard, but the gallery would get more views if it were listed with all the other topics.

Private rooms...I'm with you all the way. *Build community, not segregation.

Avatars...They are fine, but I'm a bit with Randleman, in that I have a wife and children looking over my should from time to time, and while I greatly enjoy some of them....well...its a cross I have to bear ;D

As you all might have guessed, I'm with Randleman on the avatars...

Perhaps if you guys really feel like you need to have the bouncing hooters you can include an option for viewers to turn the avatars off while they view the site??? It could be an option for each individual to make.

I'm looking forward to the updated site and am very thankful for all that you and your friend are doing for us MJ. Thank you buddy.

The gallery will have a link on the main board when we switch.

again advatars are a look or no look, and I guess the way I will handle it is the only hooters that can be shown will be in Cartoon style, if they look real I will not allow.

That should be a good middle ground. Cause I understand both sides of the coin.

Like I have said we are working on it, this board is to big to run on the format that it is I have found out and at this point I am not going to worry about it!! The new board is up and wee are now starting to build it, but have run into a few problems!

But we are working on it and hope to have by the end of January.

The only thing I've noticed that could use some improvement would be the search feature.
I always have to hit refresh,retry, and it takes a while to go back to where it was.It would also be nice if you didn't have to select a time frame for your search, 1 week is to short it should at least go back 6 mos.
Just my 2 cents.

Here a site improvement suggestion and it doesn't involve bouncing hooters ( although they are entertaining!)

I've been experimenting with Yahoo Pipes lately and have come up with a practical application that might be useful to others on this board.

Looking in the for sale section I see we all search Craigslist from time to time. If you have, you know searching ca be pain in the A**, especially in a state that has a lot of section such as North Carolina.

I have made a pipe that automates searching craiglist / Boats for "Wellcraft V 20". It's not perfect but it gets you close a whole lot easier than doing it yourself.

Perhaps with some suggested improvements (search strings modifications, expanding state coverage etc..) this could be available on the site for other members?

Here's the link to my Pipes page as an example of what it does. To execute a search, double click on the blue text of the search. example "State: Wellcraft V 20" and the results will be displayed. When the results are displayed you can click on the listing to view the ad.

I know on the other Vbulletin sites I go to. If you load the picture onto the forum site it will be a thumbnail, but if you put it in as an IMG format like we do now it will be full size like now. I know I try to shrink my pictures down before I post them.

You need image editing software on your PC to resize. Most digital cameras ship with some type of program.

Adobe Photo Shop is a professional program that is very popular but expensive. I have it through my job. GIMP and IRFANVIEW are free programs that get good reviews.

You can even use MS PAINT which is on your PC but it has some serious limitations.

as for changing the size you have a program in your computer or you will have to download one its easy to do!!

Just go to your computer and right click on a picture and hit resize from the menue and chose the med size and you will be good to go!

If its not there you will have to download picture from power toys , go here and get the image resizer.

Yea, if we could get away from using photobucket it would be nice. Ive tried many times to put pic in my gallery but cant get them in. Ive just got dial up at home and its really slow. It takes forever to load a picture. I use this computer at work but pic are restriced, cant load them or look at them.

you should not be using photobucket to load pic to your gallery!
When adding to the gallery its a derict upload from your computer.
Hit add photos then add browse and go to were your pic's are in your computer and pick the one you want and upload.
