This is part one. I launched the boat at 0630 and then walked from the ramp to work, all of about 500 yards ;D

I have a window of oppurtunity from 1015 to 1415 this morning to whoop up on some flounder. Weather man appears to have been wrong, cause its already blowing 14 ENE. Supposed to be 5-10 N? We are gonna give it a go no matter what though.

Part 2 of this report to be posted shortly after 1415 ;D

I hope you get em. More importantly I hope the moon phase and front coming through doesn't shut the bite down by the time I get to fish on Thursday :-/

Sorry brothers, but I am back. Had to work a minute before I could post. First, let me appologize, I got so danged excited that I forgot to take any pics.

We had five flounder over 17.5" and one keeper that was 19.5". We also had a 35" Rock that hit a squid/minnow sandwich. Actually, that was the first bite within five minutes of lines in. My rod was being attended by Rodney Rodholder while I was fiddling with the GPS. ;D

Water temps were 57-59 in the bay, but it is cold and windy out there this afternoon. Visibility was good.

Most exciting to me, I got to tag and release 4 flounder today :)

The striper was in 2.5' of water, the flounder were in 6 to 8' of water. I know...shoulda taken pictures, but I was more concerned with getting a tag in the fish and getting them back in the water. I turned the striper loose and gave the flounder to my buddy. I hope to catch a few more fish this year, so I can afford to go without one night ;D

I don't have the paper in front of me, but there are about 8 species that are part of the Virginia Game Fish Tagging Program. You hae to go to a class to become a registered tagger. Most of my fishing is catch & release, so I joined this year. It's pretty wild some of the tagging results they have had.

Air: I participated in the Va. tagging program for about 10 years. Im not an active tagger now but I have had some interesting tag returns over the years. Its an added dimension to fishing here & you will probably enjoy it. I have had fish I tagged caught 3 years later at the same spot, & had one trout I tagged in the bay show up in a seafood market in New Orleans!! Its something different.. Had some big red drum tag returns in the outer banks surf. & a cobia return from Florida. Cool stuff...........

Air: Nope I have not been flounder fishing yet. I dont get real excited about flounder until late June around the CBBT.
I did make my anual run over to Rudee inlet for some puppy drum action Weds. Caught 24 and a few medium specs. as well. *Its an hour and a half haul but its good fishing.

Yeah thats the old tagging program board..That picture is one I had here at work on my PC from a previous trip to Rudee, we didnt take any pics. Weds. I would say we had maybe 3 fish in the 25 to 28 inch range and the rest were 15 to 20 inches. All were caught on soft plastics & small spinner baits..
I used a 3 inch exude smoke met. flake grub on a beatle spin blade all day.. Fun stuff on 10 lb. test.
