I found this on Ebay...it is a v20 with twin 140hp engines. :o I dont know how it would float and it claims 70mph....What do you guys think???

He says it's a 21...it ain't....he says 140s...pics say 130s...good news is the work on the transom looks well done...pretty substantial....says it's got twin 20 gal saddles...good candidate for settin' up fuel tanks like mine...runnin' twins, I bet it'll need more fuel capacity...sounds like good trailer...I'd like to run it outta curiosity... :)

70 mph??? But this hull was never made to go that fast and I think it would be real unstable at the speed!!

The add says 140's and the covers in the pic say 130's but when you look up 1990 130 johnson they don't show any??

But I am sure it goes real nice!!

The main it struck my curiosity was that I thought a while back about putting twins on mine maybe 75's or 100's, but was unsure if it would handle the weight, so you guys think it would be ok???

Twin 75's would be no problem . If you go back and look at some of the early to mid 70's catalog's they were rated for twin 115's .

Stinky, I don't want to sound like an opinion here, but why set up two motors to winterize, buy props for, buy fluids for, buy controls for, buy cables for, buy gauges for, buy plugs for, buy buy buy buy....for a boat that's small enough to maneuver with one motor and too small to take far offshore regularly? Especially when you can get a nice single motor with an equal amount of hp and use the extra $$$ to get the fully loaded Sea Tow package? On the positive side, you could spin around in tight circles with two motors which you can't do with just one.

Yeah I know...MORE buying.....it would suck to have two motors to maintain. It was just a passing thought as I cant afford one motor right now muchless two.LOL

The seatow thang is a very good point though...you cant beat it really, go out as far as you want without a kicker and they'll tow you in for 119.00 all year long. ;D

Interesting boat. The support structure looks like there was some sound thinking. Those arms that tie the inside transom face to the deck look good, but it will pull up on the floor. There would have to be some structural members added that attach to the underside of the floor and tie into the stringers to "pull downward" on the deck. I think you'd be a nut to have that setup for reasons already stated, but I wouldn't call you a stark raving lunatic.

With twins, you have to overcome performance penalties, because of weight and drag. So much so that having twins is more a power-rendundancy benefit than anything. That can be important, too, if you fish/boat where help has a long way to come. A boat with twin 100s doesn't perform as well as one with a single 200. It'd run (top end, cruise, etc.) more like a single 175.

Hey guys, take it from a guy with a 72 that had twin 140's on it when I bought it - the worst part of the whole deal is that all of that weight back there on the tail end makes it impossible to trailer over 50 mph without fish tailing. Way too much weight. I never ran mine with the twins cause one needed a few things and the steering connectors and controls were not hooked up, but I can tell you that I wouldn't want it. That's why I took one of the motors and mounted it as a single on the jackplate. Not to mention that you'd need plenty of cash to feed that gas guzzler! Not a good setup IMHO.

hey guys my v20 has three you heard it three 200 mercurys sitting on the transom, and if anyone wants to see it its sitting of off of sandy hook bay in about 40 of water on the sea floor, of course the transom is burried in the sand

What a shame!! To destroy that boat with 3, 200's!!
These boats needs nothing more then 150's and a 200 is max!
Unless you are on a fresh water lake you can never never use the power that they will push out! The Hull was never designed for that kind of speed!

I agree, MJ, but you know there's ALWAYS gonna be somebody pushin' the envelope...makes me wonder if anybody's ever hung a JET motor on a V20... :o...
