Clean these carbs on YouTube. I believe it was when he was reinstalling the jets, which may have been brass, he was using what I thought was red thread lock. Could it have been anti-seize? I can’t understand why he would have used thread lock. I’m gonna be taking this on tomorrow. I have 3 carbs to rebuild. Wish me luck. I hope to have this thing singing by late afternoon.

shouldnt need anything on the jets. there are some big brass screw in plugs above the idle circuit that may need sealing. i use gasola or fingernail polish on the top after ive screwed them in

I wouldnt use any locktite on jets. U will never get them out, the heads will just strip out.

ok, i rebuilt/cleaned the carbs. poked a thin wire through all the jets and holes and doused everything with carb cleaner, blasted everything with compressed air and shot it all with seafoam. put it all back together and back on the motor. went to start it up and just turned over. blasted a little ether in the carbs and it started up. ran for a good 10-15 seconds. ran rough as hell. managed to get it started like that 2 or 3 more times. wouldn't stay runnig for more than a few seconds. baby steps. went to pull the plugs and i can't find my 13/16" plug socket. i figure what else can it be?!? i'm done for the day. i'll find, or buy a new plug socket tomorrow and see what condition the plugs are in.
WHAT THE PHUK ELSE COULD IT BE?!?!? i'm so frustrated at this point..... a couple guys are showing interest. i might just dump the dam thing and find something else at this point. shame really. the boat is in beautiful shape.

also, there's a little white plastic clip that retains the choke linkage from one carb to the other. one of them broke and i can't find this thing in any parts list, anywhere. there's a small rod that connects the choke linkage from top carb to bottom carb. tiny white plastic clip that holds the rod into the linkage. if i can't find it, i'll try to get a decent picture tomorrow.

simyamaha.com or boats.net will have that part. You will need to set the throttle linkages. There's one carb that has a set screw on the side of the carb to set the throttle plate, its pointing down. Back that screw off till its not touching teh linkage, now look at the linkages from the side, you will see a screw on each carb, they are left hand threads, break each one loose, shouldn't take ore than a half turn, 1 turn at most. Flip the throttle plate open and closed, making sure the plate is all the way closed, then tighten the screw(remember, its opposite threads) Do the top carb first, then the bottom one, the center carb has the piece that contacts the linkage from engine, there's a line on that piece that should line up to the roller. yes, set the throttle linkages and it should start up, but you are going to need to get the choke linkage fixed first

Ok, so I’m gonna screw all 4 number 20 screws all the way in and back each one out 5/8s of a turn? Not 5 to 8 turns? I’m gonna dunk it in a water drum, make sure the electronic choke is working. Cross your fingers.

I am just going thru some posts and read yours I'm confused, I was told. Never ever use either to start your motor, just curious. Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? They told me you don't use either on a two stroke. Let me know.

step, its never a good idea to use either on any engine, I use it sometimes for diagnosis purposes, but I use it lightly. With two strokes, you risk the chance of cracking a reed valve or blowing a crankcase seal.

The only way I use either on a 2 stroke is by removing the sparkplug and squirting some in there.
