Only thing I do for the winter is trailer maintenance. February is usually when I repack the bearings, check lights, tidy up my flush system, replace bunk pads, etc. I have the Accu-lube axel, so greasing is not that big of a chore.

Sorry to hear that, Spare. Comes a time when u just gotta let them go. Too bad u can t put some concrete rubble in it, take it out to 80-100 ft of water and let it go.

Im going to fab up a flush system for my brakes. Some tubing, couple fittings and a T. Ill drill a hole in the backing plate and put the T in there so I can hook up a garden hose to it and wash out the brakes before they rust up .

You guys don't seem to do enough or am I doing to much?
I go over every screw on the hull and make sure that they are tight
Go thru the 1 st aid kit , I mentioned that before
Going to run a new fuel line from my tank to my motor
Than go thru the yearly engine pm
Remove prop and grease shaft
Check thermostats,plugs grease fittings, steering
I always do this when I go to start her up in the spring
Plus I have more to do
Is it me or do I do to much?

No it isn't YOU. When I had my Proline I/O I went nuts figuring out what needed to be done for the season coming up, checking screws, filters, lights and especially the two first aid kits, that I needed. They told me I was nuts, join the club.:haha:

Nice boat, hook in hand ,not so nice
I'm happy to hear we are in the same club , checking our boats from bow to stern
I have a list,I do this every year and go down the list of things to check and if I come up with new things I put them on the list, I can't remember schit anymore
The trailer I pump up the bearings with bearing buddies Check the rollers and this year I am going to jack up the trailer and make sure there is no movement in the wheels Side to side,,up and down ,
I do this every year I try to keep her in the best condition I can She has some years on her but I love the Steplift It's a great boat.

That's why I need two first aid kids. Two weeks before that, I had to go to the hospital to get a lure out. I tried, but it was a treble hook and I needed help. The Steplift is a good boat, my friend have one. GOD LUCK with your list.

75* & light and variable winds, just had to go

as far as how much or little you do, depends on your situation. U guys have a much more compressed season. Down here it's pretty much year-round, so I work on the boat year-round. I do put off big stuff like painting the deck or re-finishing teak till the cooler months.

while you are redoing your first aid kit, make sure you have fresh super glue

Phat, nice setup on your boat!!! I take my gorilla glue all the time, what a cut savior!!! In the 60's I used it all the time, but it was called Krazy Glue and IBM had one that was the best ever.

I wonder how many lives that stuff actually saved? Quite a few I'm betting. In Nam almost everyone I knew carried it in their pockets in case someone got shot. Great for closing a wound to prevent a person from bleeding out while waiting for evac to an aid station or hospital. Instant stitches. Love it.

I learned the super glue trick a few years back at work. I sliced my knuckle, deep, with a razor blade. A coworker, who happened to be an emt, glued it shut for me. I use the glue more than bandaids, since I can never keep a bandage on.

Super glue, but what if it gets in the cut? Heard of using it but never did. I'm afraid cause I wouldn't want to cause more damage
You put a pulpit on, very nice how did you do the rail? I was thinking of using a anchor roller just bolted to the deck but I don't a anchor up much.
Phatdaddy do you keep her in the water? Man,the water looks clean their.

Totally non-toxic. No worries about it getting into the cut. In fact it works better that way. It is NOT for very deep cuts, although there are medical versions that are more flexible that are used inside the body. It works best for clean side by side cuts like knife outs or paper cuts. It seals the wound, keeps dirt and germs out and by the time it wears off the cut is close to total healing.

I trailer it. Only live about 3 miles from a couple of ramps.

When I first got this boat, I was doing a lot of diving, so anchored a lot. I also had oversized anchors and about 30 ft of chain. You do not want the boat to move when your underwater. That is why I have the anchor ball. So a pulpit was a must. The rail was made by a local Marine fab shop

Destroyer, so I don't have to worry if it gets into the cut? That's great news. What do you do just put it in the cut?
Phatdaddy , the fabricator looks like he did a good job . That has to be so much easier than dropping buy hand
I will be putting crazy glue in my 1st aid kit tomorrow.

My use of the glue is almost always to repair cracks in my hands. They crack if I work with stuff that's too dry/dusty and if I work/fish and they get wet a lot.

I think it's normal to close the cut or crack and glue it shut - that works best for me. There's a lot of difference in how different brands perform - I just bought some Gorilla and am looking forward to trying it out.

In general, I've had pretty good results with their original glue for woodworking projects, but it has it's limitations, particularly how much it expands. Their tape is amazingly sticky - I use it whenever plain old duct tape isn't good enough to rely on.

4 or 5 years ago we were cleaning up a boat after a fishin trip. It was on the trailer at the ramp. My friend jumped off the swim platform. Fell to the ground. He broke his leg just above the ankle, screws and a plate. Needed more than superglue for that one! He wont do that again.

I usually just blot up any blood and then put a drop or two into the cut and pinch it shut. Hold it for a count of 15.

Not arguing - just an opinion, but I think glue in the cut probably retards the healing (knitting together of the meat) at least a little. I try to close it and put enough over the top to hold it long enough to grow back together.

You could be right Scook. I really don't know. I was told that cuts heal from the bottom up, so it never crossed my mind to think about them knitting together. In all cases, since the main desire is to stop the bleeding and seal the cut I think either way accomplishes that.

I agree. It saved an epic fishing trip for me - so many fish, my hands were in danger of falling off from the cracks. I got plenty of the glue down in the cracks and it got the job done.

Band Aid and tape still works for me but if using glue for cuts suggest using Dermabond, SurgiSeal, and Band-Aid Liquid Bandage.2

The issue I'm having with krazy glue is that you say put it in the cut and pinch it close, but I'm sure when you pinch it it will Aldo get on your fingers too So now your glued to the cut too. I know you going to say be careful but how careful can you be on a moving boat? Heck I get it on my fingers when I use it to glue rubber paddle tails on a hook.
