I know I'm asking a lot of questions but this site is my go to site
Today I was checking ignition wires for spark , I didn't have spark on the starboard side bottom wire so I pulled it out and it was broken at the coil end, would that cause it not to show park?
Then I went up one plug, disconnected it and the motor bogged down and I had spark ( Good)
Next I went to the top wire ( same side) and pulled the wire and had spark but there was no change in the motor , that's what I'm concerned about What do you think?
Port side checked out good.
It's a 1988 150 Mercury outboard 2 stroke and believe ie or not even with running on five plugs it sounds great
I ordered new wires , two coils and I have the plugs so I'm going to change all of the above.

It's easy to do a continuity check on each wire. if you have a V.O.M. just set for Ohms and put one lead on each end of each wire and check for resistance. No change on the display = bad wire.

I don t believe their is any bench test for the switch boxes. Without a DVA meter, best solution is to test fire on motor, if you find one is not firing, swap boxes and see if problem follows.

I hear you phat but instead of swapping boxes cause there are a lot of wires can I just swap the wire that is not firing to a wire that is firing? On the same side same box? The wire is green and white can I just get the wire for the plug that's right next to it so what I'm saying is if it is the switch box by me doing that then one would fire and the other (which is not firing ) will fire, I just don't know if I would screw something up by reversing the two wires.
