Would there be any problems putting a 200HP etec on the Wellcraft, it's the same weight as the old Johnson? I don't see any, but it's always good get good advice from the ones who know.

Nope, no problems at all. In fact, I believe that Bgreene has one on his V21 and loves it. :head:

I have a 200 HP Mercury on my V21 and will attest that it's perfect. I know a lot of people have 150's and 200's on their V20's and I've never heard anyone speak badly of them.

The only problem is when you shift to a 4 stroke engine and the extra weight that brings to the table.

D, thanks no 4 stroke in the future for the V20.

If the transoms good - go for it .
V 20 rated for up to 225 hp

I have the 2005 first year Etec G1 200 HO.
Zero issues ....if you get one, you’ll love how quickly it starts when you turn the key- cold / warm doesn’t matter.

BG, THANKS and I'm pretty sure there will be a big difference in gas also.

I love my 1988 150 2 stroke I love the smoke the quick response the motor itself what I don't like is that it's a older motor and parts are hard to get or no longer available ,that I dont like

It's a 2.6 not a HO.
This Wellcraft isn't my boat, it's my friends, his Johnson died, so he got this one.
How's the gas with this motor, the Johnson drank it like it was water.
Thanks for the responses.
