Looks like it might be a good deal. One problem I see is the eBay member listing this has a zero feedback rating. Could be a little shady. Of course, if you go look at the boat and meet the guy, that zero feeback might be ok.

YEA I NOTICED THAT, THE MAIN THING I NOTICED IS BRAND NEW ENGINE FOR 1200. COST MORE THAN THAT TO INSTALL THE THING AROUND HERE A LITTLE CURIOUS

Hey ask him how many years ago that motor was installed and when last ran. From the looks of the grass under the boat i would say it's been sitting a long time on that road for sale. Kinda odd since it's only $1200 with new motor. HUMMMMM and he has been an EBAY member since Dec-18-00 and he still has 0 Feedback. Sounds odd to me. I'd have to see the paper work on the new motor, the boat, and the trailer on this one.

The eBay mechanism can be tricky with the reserve auctions and proxy bidding. Just because you see "reserve met" does not mean the price you actually see up there meets the reserve.

For example, with the proxy bidding, lets say the hidden reserve is $3000 and current bidding is at $1175. Minimum bid is $25. I come along and say, "I'd be willing to pay $3500 for that." So I bid $3500. The price you see after my bid is now $1200, even though the reserve is $3000. If nobody else bids, the auction ends and I owe $3000.

I'm 99% sure that's how it works. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I learned this by tracking a similar auction where reserve was met.

Maybe on proxy bidding never heard of that but this isn't a proxy auction. If you look at bid history the leader is a one time bidder and he bid high enough to mak the reserve on first bid. So he is most likely higher than 1200 but I'd watch it he may be a friend of the seller to run the bid up so it would met reserve so others will go higher on the boat.

I think all eBay auctions use the proxy bidding system, however, I did find this on eBay help:

"In Reserve Price Auctions, if your maximum bid is the first to be greater than the seller's reserve price, the eBay system will automatically jump the price up to meet the reserve, and bidding will continue from there."

So, maybe a little over $1200 could buy this boat??

All

Look VERY closely at the Bow photo (copy and enlarge it) - then look at the rub-rail, and look at the bow area hull-deck joint... While you are asking this guyquestions about when the engine ran last, you might ask about what can be seen, and what CAN NOT be seen up there. Looks like when that engine ran - it might run that bow into a dock -OUCH!

I saw that too and passed it off as a blurb in the pic. Surely the guy would mention such damage in his ad??

So much for spiffing the thing up for sale too!! 2' of grass all around it, Bimini flapping out in the breeze. Looks like it was thru a hurricane. I'm very suspicious.
