Did anyone ever remove that aluminum trim on the transom and was it hard, the reason I'm asking is mine shifted and I want to get a new one and put it on right

That trim is the number one place where water enters and soaks the wood in the transom. Hopefully if yours has moved it is still dry underneath. Regardless, if I had the motor off and was going to fix or replace that trim I would discard it and glass over the exposed wood.

Isn't that the most screwed up design, a metal cap covering a wood transom

Remove it.... at the very least paint the wood with epoxy paint. Glass it over is even better. Coat it with 5200... whatever it takes SEAL that wood!!! :head:

Destroyer I hear you , but how do I get the trim off under the motor? I guess I have to some how move the engine awayfrom it, that gets me nervous I never did that before
