Has anybody installed a anti theft lock on prop ? I switched to a stainless after maiden voyage and the aluminum aluminum one had a washer to stop nut from nackn off . The lock doesn't have i ran sunday didn't loose it but was nervous.

Not sure how those prop locks work. But I can see you have a Mercury engine and the lock nut and the bendable tab washer work on the stainless just as well as the aluminum props. Is there room on the threads to have the regular nut and washer first, and then the lock over it to prevent access to the nut? For that matter why not just take the prop off when the boats not in use? Can't steal what's not there. :head:

Not worried about theft i just pulled it off the spare outdrive & i put back the same way . I don't think that there is enough room for both but i guess i can just put the other nut back on & leave lock off & yes sir it is mercusier. I have 2 spares i got when i bought the motor .

Are you saying that your prop fell off? Or the nut backed off?

I bought a Mercury that had one of those mcgard prop locks, and it didn't use the locking washer either. The guy I bought it from said it had been on there for awhile and no issues. I took it off and went back to a regular prop nut and lock tab washer since I wasn't worried about it walking off on a trailer in my yard.
