Decided to hit the seabass again......out shark inlet to a flat ocean at 6am.
First headed NE a few miles to some rough bottom and decent action on shorts with a few keepers.
Then headed N a few miles, this time drifting a section that held lots of fish....seemed like around 20 to 1 ratio of shorts to keepers. Finished up with 8 keepers - that's plenty of fish. One bluefish too.
S/ SE wind came up around 1pm., and building 2'-3' as I went in.
Step Up - what kind of radio you using ?
Heard you loud and clear from that distance......maybe 15 + miles away but you couldn't get my reply.

M127 Icom VHF old school. Usually its salt intrusion because you V-20 owners think you can steam thru them four footers or more. But I found a high dollar VHF antenna mounted as high as possible will get very good reception. Thanks for the radio check!!!!!!

A friend and I fished the area around FG and had good sea bass action as well. Wound up with 7 keepers. Drop and reel fishing. Beautiful morning out there. Left them biting around noon. Bay was way worse than the ocean on the way in.

Got a high end antenna believe it's called a Digital, but radio output not as good as yours........or maybe your output good but doesn't receive as well ? Ha ha....

Weather was so nice Saturday we stayed out overnight at Shark River Reef. First time for that. Could have prepared a little better. Fishing wasn't so hot. Got 15 ling (red hake) and 5 keeper seabass. Livelined a ling on an 8/0 hoping for a tuna but just got dogfish bites. Caught a dozen or more silver eels. No cod,no pollock.
Set out at first light for the Glory Hole, trolled for tuna without any luck. Water temp 57.8

yes, first time overnight on the skunkboat...not very comfortable.
I keep a blanket and a few pillows in the cuddy for " just in case" I want to take a nap or overnight. The cuddy's actually not bad when set up this way....with the covers for the storage, it's comfortable enough.
Then again......my V21 cuddy features a full bed, AC, refrig / freezer, microwave, flat screen tv, head, sink with 25 gallon fresh, and shower. All you have to do is engineer the space properly.

Hit the seabass again Saturday - this time deeper -90' and found some bigger fish to 16"+.
Swell with light chop made for a gentle ride at 3,500 rpm , then it laid down even more.
About 8-10 keepers, 3 ling and a big eel released.
Quit at noon as S was just picking up.
