MJ rather than just let the lights go out have you thought about passing the reigns over to a willing board member? I bet there are a couple or three people who would step up and take it over - possibly myself.

Same here on paying something to keep this going. I can't host it - it would be a disaster if I tried but will sure support you or one of the other guys as much as I can to keep it going. I too, visit almost every day and would really miss it if it were gone.

I also am very grateful for your years faithful service and I think all of our community would completely support you if you wanted to hand off all or part of your duties.

Please let us know what we can do.

Just keep this in mind... I own and operate a website & app development firm down here in South Florida. We host a lot of websites on our dedicated servers... I don't think this one wouldn't be a problem. Let me know what the file size is on the root folder and what kind of bandwidth we'd be looking at.

Well, I, for one, am not willing to let this site go down without a fight. So what are we talking about as far as $$ goes MJ? Who is running the site now, how much do they want in the future, etc. Need some information about the workings of the site to make informed decisions. But like a few others have said already, I would bet there are several people here, including myself, that might be able to step up to the plate and take over the admin duties, etc. Actually, because of your health, I've been expecting something like this for a while now. Maybe it's time to pass the reins MJ.

I'm with the others. I'm not willing to sit and watch this place go if I can do something about it. I have no idea how to host but can help out fund wise.

MJ let us know how to help!!

Well this is a bummer. You've done us all so much by keeping this page up and running MJ. I certainly would help out financially. Even though I currently own no V-20's (amazing I know) you guys have been great to talk boats with. I'm on a few different boat forums and you guys are by far the coolest. I'd hate to see this go away, let's keep this from happening!!

MJ, you've done an outstanding job on this website with your commitment, rules and diligence to persevere during some very strenuous past years. You've brought a lot of good folks together to build a great camaraderie amongst us as well as a creating a learning platform for all. Never met any of the guys, but consider them all my friends. Pass the torch to a willing member, but please stay with us. . If it takes a fee to keep it going, count me in. Thank you my friend and the best to you and all V20 family.

Thanks for all your work on the site MJ!
I hope it can keep going. I get so much info and so many ideas from here. And the stories from good people. I will certainly kick in some clams to keep it going.

I am putting up a Facebook page "Wellcraft V20 Steplift" so we have a means of communication if we go dark. I started it but I have to go to work. Might be up on FB tonight.

2nd what everybody else said - thanks a ton MJ for keeping this up for this long with all you've had to deal with. I sure would not even own a V21 if not for this site, and if I did it probably would not RUN. lol

So I will plan to keep it going as soon as I get in touch with MJ's guy. Left him a VM today. Will need to get hosted on a new server so should be fairly easy to pick up and move, then we will be all set.

I joined this site while I was searching for a V20. I wound up getting something else but I stuck around because I like the vibe here and I really like the boats. Really stinks that you're having such a hard time these days, but hopefully there's brighter days in the future. Glad to see that it will be able to continue and will gladly pony up some dough.

This place has to stick around. I was on another board that the owners shut down and years of info and 10s of thousands of posts went away instantly. Really sucked!

I'm about one of the least technical folks here, but would be willing to throw a few bucks to keep the lights on. I'm not on facebook or anything else like that. I appreciate MJ for the years of keeping things going through thick and thin and I'm glad an old regular like Blue Runner can take the reins. I miss some of the old members, but we have a lot of good newer posters lately too. Really a good group without all the bs most boards end up having.

, I would love to see this site go on forever but obviously their is a possibility that it won't. In the event that happens I'd like to say MJ thanks for doing a wonderful job especially with all you've been through. I'm not a Facebook guy so let me say this,it's been a pleasure guys truly and I appreciate all the help.i'm by no means a mechanic but the tithings that I have learned here are immeasurable. I take on things now that I would have never attempted before . It's been for a very long time the only site I go on,just don't have a lot of time to waste these days with other sites and guys that just like to hear the sound of their own voice ( figuratively speaking). This band of guys just truly like helping one and other with no purpose other than to do just that ,help. I've come to know people's lives,I'm sitting here thinking I even know what some of the members like to eat drink and vacation! I've prayed for their children, Their parents, their spouses , so yes I feel I'd be loosing quite a bit here if this sight were to end.. and selfishly I know when I have a problem I'll get an Experienced intelligent answer from Spare Destroyer Ferm Ridge Reel Smoke Pete Skunk Willy skools and so many others that I've left out .. case in point,,, Skunk saved me a pile of time and aggravation just this morning!!! And on the other side I'll see something posted by Charlie and know most likely I'm going to get a good laugh today! My wife often comes into the room and sees me on the laptop
typing and says teasingly "I guess your talking to your friends I say yep and laugh! Hope it goes on forever !!!!!

Reminds me of Ferm and Spare telling someone how to bypass the turbo encabulator on their 1985 PXQ5001-e.

SQL = (Structured Query Language) is a domain-specific language used in programming and designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS), or for stream processing in a relational data stream management system (RDSMS). In this case the site is using 2.3 Giga Bytes of space, and it's taking 535 megabytes to manage it. He's also reporting that the bandwidth is not a lot. (Which is good since the more bandwidth you use the more costly it is)

And the turbo encabulator on the 1985 PXQ5001-e model was only used one year and was replaced by the far more efficient flux capacitor on the 1986 PXQ5001-f model the following year, completely eliminating the need for a turbo encabulator.

First I'd Like to say a huge THANK YOU to MJ for starting such a great site and for all youve done to keep it going. I wear all my hats , shirts and sweatshirts with pride and get compliments on them all the time. This site and the great guys have always been a big help no matter what I have going on, boat or personal! And a big thank you to Bluerunner for taking it and keeping it alive. I don't get chance to speak up much but I check in regularly. I love looking at the pictures and stories of repairs and restoration of these fine watercraft. I found this site before I bought my V and have enjoied every minute Ive spent here! If funds are needed to keep it going, I'm all about it! Just let me know how I can help!

I would like to add a correction. There is no reason any posts should go "poof." I have been downloading backups of the forum database daily. I will do everything in my power to make sure no posts are lost.

Some of the older members of this board may recall when we switched over from the yAbb board to vBulletin back around 2004. That was a completely different type of database and there was no cut and dried way to import or convert it, yet we did it with no lost data.

There might be some lapse in the site's presence online if we don't get off this server before it goes dark, but the migration is being worked on and is a priority project at the moment.

Everyone should raise a toast to Blue Runner for taking on this responsibility. This site deserves to continue and, because of him, it will.

Now, back to work! :)

Hats off to Valiant for his wonderful support! Note that he does not own a V20 and does not have to help. Same goes for JJURIGA who has also been a huge help in trying to get us set up (except he does own a V20). I can tell you that I could not do it without either one of these dudes....

I didn't realize Valiant was taking backups, I thought the backup I have was the only one, so that is fantastic news.

All that aside, some progress has been made and one way or another we are going to get it going.

I remember all too well when the yabb forum went down on Christmas in 2005 and I was ready to close the site down then . . . MJ and Valiant took over Jan 2006 (if I remember correctly) Valiant migrated the data over to Vbulletin and better hosting . . . and MJ put the hammer down moderating everything. Thanks to Bluerunner and Valiant for keeping it going and hats off to MJ and Valiant for keeping the site alive the last 11 years (through good times and bad times)
