Well since today was my birthday, I decided to take the flats boat out and play some today. The weather's been pretty crappy lately down here, but today was only slightly rough(for most boats, it was bad for a flat's boat offshore :o ;D). I ventured out JOHN'S PASS today and went about 3-4 miles out which was about 2 miles past everybody else trolling, and dropped some big ole CROCODILE spoons in. Within a minute I had the first hit, but it cut the line in front of my leader. So I lengthened my leaders out, and about 2 minutes later I caught a 28" SPANISH MACK. This is by far the biggest SPANISH MACK I've ever caught, most guys around here jump up and down over an 18" SPANISH MACK. This made my birthday in one fair swoop, even made me forget about the 2-3 footers coming over the bow of the boat. So I dropped the lines back out and we ended up picking up a 20" and a 21.5" SPANISH MACK. I let my girlfriend catch tthese ones which was funny to listen to her complaining about her hands hurtin from the fish screamin drag on her;D. All in all a nice day, but the weather turned nasty real quick, so I headed in. I just neaded a break from work on my birthday, and my PRO-LINE needed some excercise.

The 2 my girlfriend got

How'd the boat run? I used to live down that way in Clearwater. Where'd ya put in at?

My Merc runs great ;D, EXTREMELY thirsty though :'(. I'm real happy with my PRO-LINE flats hull. I put in at WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK off of the 19 bypass. It's pretty much due east of JOHN'S PASS. In the flat's boat I can be at the pass in under 10 minutes(the 2 idle zones take up most of that time.

I used to put in at ft desoto park. There's a ton of grass flats around there an some of my buddies do really well down there fishing for a lot of species.
