Went out a few days ago with my bud Jeff, initial launch of his sweet Maycraft 2550 PH for a little feesheen. His Brother Jay was along too. Had a good day, targeted flounder in Raritan Bay. Most of the boats around us were pulling sqautzola, we grabbed seven or eight nice keepers and a few throwbacks.
Had five different rods used that day and I will pass along a little gem I found out. Two Power Pro rods, one Berkley braid and one 10pd mono. Braids were all thin diameter green and clear. Caught a couple but the high rod that day with I think at least four if not five of the keepers was on my little St. Croix with 10lb Pline Floroclear on it. This is the Pline version for spinning reels and the stuff is tougher than sh!t and thin and I think most important of all it literally disappears in the water. It also casts like a dream. If you cut a little piece off and stick it in a glass of water you cant find it. Amazing and again I think it was the difference that day as we all had the exact same rigs and bait, plus they are probably better fisherman than I am. So keep it in mind if you are going to spool up a reel.
So here are some shots from the day.
