Yup, took the 11'6" AVON boat with 1973 9.5hp Evinrude to Belmar to explore the bay, river, and beyond.....
Surprising lack of tog action at flood high slack tide around the bridges, lot of guys fishing from the banks too.
Calm so ran out the short inlet into the big wide open.
Some might think - a 12' rubber boat in the ocean - crazy !!
Actually, unless a tight chop the rubber boat floats " like a duck" and I felt very comfortable trolling around, drift fishing and riding a few swells. Center of gravity is low as I sit on a real low beach chair rather than the flat cross beam " seats." Feet are over the side of gunnel.
Life jacket with radio and PLB attached so if I did go in....odds in my favor.
Said real close up hello to huge ocean sunfish, close enough to touch.
Fun
