I just got around to getting her ready for the season. I cranked her up and ran her at idle for about 5 minutes. Pee stream was strong, but something said to touch the water to see how hot it was. Water felt kinda cool, but then I touched the shaft and it was hot...like, count to 5 and it was uncomfortable hot. Steam was coming from it.
Being the noob that I am, I shut it off. I changed the oil when I winterized her. I'm running a '94 Evinrude Ocean Pro 225. Should I be concerned?
As always, thanks in advance for your input!

The shaft above the lower unit, below the power head/cowl...I might not be saying it right.

Sounds like the body of the midsection... It would be warm because the exhaust is flowing through it...

Okay, thanks!
I hate asking bonehead questions, I really do. I have a ton to learn about mechanics and upkeep, but don't have any trustworthy folks to learn from.

Well, I can't vouch for the "complete" trustworthiness of "some" of the people here, lol, but there's a ton of people here that you can learn from. This is "THE" source for great info.
