wow... I MISS my bagphone... got mine in '93 or '94... best phone I ever had... better yet about a year into owning it I mounted it in my truck... if I was outside I couldn't be reached/bothered....
Of course I didn't have any idea back then that I needed google in my pocket to survive.... Sure am lucky I made it through to the iphone era.

I remember my boss had a phone in his car in around 1986 or so, he told me that one day everyone would have a phone they could carry right on their belt...my response was "why would anyone want or need that? ".
Now I carry a pretty amazing computer on my belt that I use constantly, and sometimes people call me on it.

That bag phone was my first personal cell, got it right at the end of the bag era. The company I was working for then got all the crew leaders a Mitsubishi diamond-tel phone about 96, before that we had thos skytel beepers. My phone bill back then was about $600-$800 a month. With probably about 100 minutes of useage.
I agree with u bradford, I hate them until I need them.
Kinda like insurance

X2.... I still have a working one. Don't use it anymore, but it's a TracFone that still has time left on it, so technically it's a working phone. And yes.. plain, simple, and it worked...
