Merry Christmas to all!! Who would have ever thought it would be warm enough to be on the V on Christmas day in South Jersey?

Very true, but NOT a record. Ever wonder WHY was Bing Crosby was dreaming of a White Christmas in 1954? In Irving Berlin’s musical White Christmas, it was 70 degrees in Vermont on Christmas Eve. Was the story line based on fact or fiction? According to Real Science, the warm temperatures we’re experiencing this December are not unheard of. In fact, Christmas Eve in 1955 was much warmer. Three fourths of the country was over 60 degrees—cities in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas were all over 90 degrees. Fort Lauderdale was 85 degrees. All of the Southern and Eastern states were over 60 degrees on Christmas Eve, 1955.
Last winter, the East Coast experienced record cold. That was ignored by the media because it was “less than one percent of the Earth.” But this week, of course, the Eastern U.S. defines the global climate because of the warm temps. While the warmer temperatures this year have caused some to point the finger at climate change, knowledgeable meteorologists use real science—like historical records—to draw their conclusions. But in all cases, yes, it was an unusually warm week.
